Recently, we held an AMA session that focused on Rove's new Avatar feature - Roboi. Roboi is our first step towards unlocking the expressive powers of NFTs & wearables by letting users sync their NFT into the Roboi’s head display.
There is certainly a lot of potential to Roboi that we are only just tapping into, and we got a chance to discuss it together with our community in this AMA, featuring 2 of our core team members, TA & Mashi, as guest speakers.
In case you missed the event, you can watch the recap here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CDr8pqQToqA
Below is the transcript of the AMA, which has been slightly edited for better clarity.
Context: With more brands, creators, and individuals moving into the spaces [of the metaverse], we all wonder how NFTs can be nurtured to bring more both intrinsic and external values, enhance our expressions, and build communities, exceeding just one-time drops and temporary gains. As previously touched on in our recent article, Avatars are going to be the X factor in utilizing those values.
Mashi: In short, we want to bring new life to your PFP NFTs. Right now, you can see that most of the avatars are static JPEG. So, that’s why we give it a life. Give it more abilities. How to make it actually live in Rove.
We want to open more opportunities for creators. Now, they can create 3D models; they can make their assets. And also, they can get earnings from their creations.
Mashi: In the first few weeks, we want to bring on the ROBOI, the one you see [the TV-head persona with your selected 2D NFT]. We want to let users use their 2D PFP and put it in the host.
They can use it in Rove freely. Following what TA - our co-founder - has mentioned before, the next step is going to be: everyone can customize their Avatar in Rove, using their PFP.
Mashi: Right now, you know. ROBOI can have some standard abilities in Rove, including traveling, dancing, and expressing themselves. In the near future, we’ll be adding more abilities. It is based on the trends of NFTs and the strength and characteristics of each NFT item.
For example, you can see some NFTs that have wings or small helicopter heads. Or, we can assign some flying abilities to them. There’s more to come. We’re on the way to do that.
TA: I think we’re still very much early at this point. The basic idea is that the NFTs will underline the avatar economy.
Basically, in the future, anything or any part of the Avatar can be NFT, like the accessories, the clothes, the special abilities, the visuals, all of that. And then Rove will power the marketplaces, the minting functionalities that allow people to create their own set of avatars and NFT wearables. Buy, sell, and trade them. That’s the vision.
Of course, we have to execute it step by step. Number one is to make sure that we’re building something that people like and enjoy to use. Because without people enjoying it, there will be no economy. So for now, that’s our vision. We think we have the ability to execute that. It will just take time and a lot of engagement with our community to learn what they want and build something exactly what they need.
Rove provides building blocks for NFT communities and creators to build, own and have fun in the 3D worlds.
We understand it’s not easy to build a metaverse from scratch, let alone make it thrive.
Therefore, we want to make it very easy for communities and creators to build their own virtual nations: create unique and immersive experiences, forge communities of like-minded people in interactive environments and exciting activities. Erect cities, host parties, have AMAs and fly through space together. Your world, your people, your rules.
