Canto Namespace Now Live on Mainnet

We are excited to announce the mainnet launch of Canto Namespace Protocol (CNP), the first permissionless subprotocol to launch for Canto Identity Protocol. Read on to learn more about Canto Namespace and the launch details!

Expressive On-Chain Names

Canto Namespace is a permissionless protocol allowing users to mint on-chain display names. Unlike other naming protocols, which offer names in a single style, CNP empowers users with self-expression by creating on-chain names with stylized letters, numbers, and emojis. With the additional expression of display names and the tray minting design (detailed below), Canto Namespace Protocol represents the first permissionless subprotocol within the Canto Identity Protocol, which aims to bring a broader and more meaningful interpretation to identity.

Minting a Namespace NFT

To create a Namespace NFT, users must first purchase Tray NFT(s), each consisting of 7 random tiles (characters). From these Tray NFTs, users will select the tiles or characters they want to fuse together to create their name. It is important to note any unused characters from a selected tray are burnt, regardless of how many tiles were used from that tray. Upon fusing the characters, a user has officially created a Canto Namespace NFT.

Namespace Launch Details

Tile Tray Costs

To celebrate mainnet launch and encourage users to claim a Canto Namespace, Tray NFT costs will start at 2 NOTE per tray for the first 24 hours. After this timeframe, costs will increase to 4 NOTE per tray.

Name Length and Fusing Costs

At launch, users will be able to fuse names that are between 8 and 13 characters in length, with shorter names being available at a later date. Letter and number tiles count toward the total number of characters, whereas emojis do not. Fusing costs for names are character dependent and outlined below:

Namespace NFT Registration

As mentioned, CNP is the first subprotocol launching for Canto Identity Protocol. The ability to register a Canto Namespace NFT to a specific address is coming soon with the mainnet launch of Canto Identity Protocol.
