Desert Animal Meetup
Surprisingly, at the edge of the ocean, we discovered an expansive desert that stretched into infinity. It appeared silent, with only the whisper of the wind and the sand, yet subtle details everywhere still revealed the unmistakable traces of life. Stepping into this desert, who might we encounter next?
Animals living here have different levels of conservation status in the real world, ranging from Least Concern (LC), Conservation Dependent (CC), Near Threatened (NT), Vulnerable (VU), Endangered (EN), Critically Endangered (CR), Extinct in the Wild (EW) and even Extinct (EX). If there is not enough data to make an assessment of a species’ risk of extinction, its conservation status will be Data deficient (DD). The conservation status of an animal will not have any influence on its in-game performance.
In ACE Animals, each animal also has corresponding qualities that affect their numerical attributes in the game. The qualities range from low to high and are: N, R, SR, SSR, SP. Animals with higher qualities will bring more benefits and rewards to their friends!

“Come and enjoy sunbathing”
Stepana the Yingde leopard gecko claims to be from the future. She says that the gecko tribe has taken over the desert in the future (no one knows how they managed to do it) and built a massive cyber city powered entirely by solar energy, establishing a self-sustaining ecological cycle within the city.
However, no animal companions are willing to believe her, because despite Stepana dressing in a futuristic cyberpunk style, her biggest daily hobby is sunbathing — not a common preference in the desert. “Come and enjoy sunbathing,” she says.
Nevertheless, Stepana has a small fangirl. Amity the Corsac fox is very interested in her description and constantly pesters Stepana, repeatedly asking one question: “Do you have caves in your cyber city?” Stepana always evades the question, perhaps because this way, Amity will keep listening to her describe scenes from the cyber city over and over again.

“How about an exciting cave exploration?”
Amity the Corsac fox is the most renowned cave explorer in the desert, though the title of “explorer” is one she has self-imposed, and other animal friends are reluctant to acknowledge it in public. Why? Because despite Amity being highly skilled at cave exploration, she always mysteriously ends up in others’ burrows and says, “How about an exciting cave exploration?” before making a swift escape.
Amity’s connections with her friends mostly stem from these unexpected encounters (which is not surprising, as those who don’t mind such incidents tend to get along well with Amity’s personality). Charlie the Northern hairy-nosed wombat is no exception. From that day on, this mischievous duo that struck fear into the hearts of animals across the entire desert embarked on their legendary story. “In this vast desert, animal encounters are mostly accidental,” they say. “So, is that the reason why you appeared in my home?” other animals would protest with raised voices.

“ Dewdrops are the stars on the ground”
Kathy the Stenocara gracilipes leads a life that may seem monotonous to her other animal friends — either waiting to collect water or on her way to fetch it. Her tribe is attuned to the harmony of nature, possessing the ability to capture the scarce water vapor from the desert’s blowing sands through their body structures, enabling them to thrive in this somewhat harsh environment.
Indeed, Kathy’s life is not drastically different from what her friends describe. However, unlike the rumored hustle and bustle, she peacefully enjoys each day. “Dewdrops are the stars on the ground,” she says, “they shimmer in harmony with the vast and expansive night sky.” Starting her ascent each evening and collecting dewdrops in the deep of the night, she finds not monotony but poetic beauty in this way of life. “I appreciate this reversed version of the ‘rise at dawn, work with the moon’ lifestyle,” She says, “ On this vast land, all beings are gracefully living at their own unhurried pace, aren’t they?”
