Today is may day, a day for workers. This year is very special for Han Jidong, a welder from No. 159 plant of the third Academy of China Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation. With the first place in the welder finals of the seventh national vocational skills competition, he won the National May day labor medal in 2022, which is the determination and encouragement for a “big country welder” to struggle for many years.

Han Jidong was born in an ordinary family in Tengzhou, Shandong Province. His little uncle is a famous welding expert in shiliba village. Han Jidong has been fond of the welding gun in his little uncle’s hand since childhood. The “repair shop” at home has laid a solid foundation for his welding career. Yearning for the outside world and a bigger stage is the dream of every young man, and Han Jidong is no exception. Carrying his bags, Han Jidong came to Beijing. After entering Shougang, he was selected to Shougang technician college because of his outstanding business. At that time, he was lucky to learn from national welding Master Wang Wenhua and become a member of Master Wang Wenhua’s studio. He was also the most savvy apprentice in the eyes of Master Wang. Han Jidong told reporters that welding has high requirements for visual sensitivity and physical fitness. When welding, there are not only infrared and ultraviolet damage to the body, but also splash and slag, which can easily fall on the body. At the same time, it also needs a long time of practice to make the muscles form memory.

In plant 159, Han Jidong’s team undertakes the welding tasks of several key parts of aerospace equipment. In the face of some models of difficult technologies such as repair welding of casting cabin, argon arc welding at turning section and pipe welding of fuel system, Han Jidong, who has mastered excellent skills, can always solve them in time. In the face of some urgent, difficult, dangerous and heavy tasks, Han Jidong will be entrusted to operate in the factory. He can always innovate and complete them, and can be formed and qualified at one time.

In 2020, the factory received an urgent task to weld stainless steel products with large batch, tight cycle, high welding requirements and difficult operation. At that time, manual argon arc welding was always used in the factory, so it was difficult to ensure the completion on schedule. With rich experience in MIG welding (MIG welding), Han Jidong suggests using MIG welding, which can not only improve work efficiency, but also realize high-quality welding. After the MIG welding equipment entered the factory, Han Jidong continuously optimized the welding parameters to make the internal and external quality of the weld meet the design requirements, and the actual measurement of the welding efficiency has been improved by at least 5 times. Finally, the products have been delivered on time and in batches with good quality. Later, MIG welding was successfully popularized and applied in 159 factory and even the third Institute, which not only ensured the quality but also improved the efficiency in the product welding of stainless steel materials.

Han Jidong solved more than one production technical problem. The cabin material of an aerospace product is cast superalloy. As a high-strength nickel base alloy, it is difficult to weld, and the matrix is prone to cracks, pores and other problems in the cabin casting process. After data analysis, Han Jidong found the reasons and put forward a series of solutions, such as cabin preheating, heightening the welding matrix, small current repair welding depression, cabin slow cooling and so on. After practical welding, X-ray and fluorescence inspection were accepted, and the crack problem of cabin section was completely solved, which ensured the quality of parts and production progress. He also participated in the military parade marking the 70th anniversary of the national day; He was invited to participate in all welding tasks of the main torch tower of Beijing Olympic venues, led the welding team to improve the welding method and complete the task efficiently, which was highly praised by leaders and experts.

While improving himself, Han Jidong did not forget to “help and guide”. He also served as the company’s welding technology trainer and imparted his knowledge, welding experience and skills learned over the years to his disciples and colleagues without reservation. He said that we should take the young people in the factory to compete in domestic and international competitions, so as to make aerospace manufacturing a world-class.
