RRC-9: Delegate Launchpad is a brand new initiative of the RARI Foundation that has already become one of the most anticipated programs of this summer within our community. This proposal is aimed at providing 15 promising delegates with a head start in the DAO by allocating 2000 veRARI to each.

While the proposal is still up for voting until June 24th (the quorum was reached during the first 24 hours with unanimous support!), in this article we are taking a look at the core motivation behind Delegate Launchpad.

#1: To boost DAO participation

It is no secret that even the most popular DAOs don’t get high participation rates. Why? Our best guess is that we are still very early on in space, and it takes time and education to let more people know about their rights and privileges in their favourite projects.

With Delegate Launchpad, we are taking clear steps to increase the number of people in the group we currently need the most – active contributors.

Both new and current delegates will be able to apply and receive a body of votes large enough to make a difference in the community, without waiting months to build up the “constituency” they would need for similar weight.

#2: To provide opportunities to new community members 

First and foremost, delegation is based on trust. $RARI token holders prefer to delegate their veRARI contributors who have been around for a while and already gained respect from the community. We fully support their decision – and yet we also know that to increase participation, we need to provide new delegates with an equal opportunity to contribute. 

If you are passionate about Rarible infrastructure, have a sincere desire to contribute and relevant experience, you will receive enough veRARI for your voice to be heard. 

#3: To grow in a native way

Important part of the Delegate Launchpad is the structure of the delegation. Instead of getting 2000 veRARI for indefinite amount of time, a participating delegate will see this amount decrease over time, expiring after 6 months. This gives new delegates enough time to build trust in the community by showing activity in the governance and the real results of their work.
