What is the Possessed NFT?

The Possessed NFT or pssssd is a 10,000 Animated NFT Project that is based around a “toxic outbreak”, test subjects, and the pssssd Lab. Holders of the NFT will get a fully animated character and 2 Static PFPs (2 states - one blessed and one possessed). These states represent the two sides of ourselves, blessed is the normal 9 to 5 and the possessed is the most passionate and creative side of ourselves.

Holders will be able to select which state they want to use through the pssssd website. This will be coded into the metadata (it is not wrapping). Art was hand drawn by Joe, edited in illustrator, animated in after effects, then generatively combined in Lottie. The NFT will have millions of possible combinations.

Q2 2022. The team has mentioned that they are aiming for the mint to be in June 2022.

There is no set mint price at this moment.

Plans & Utility

The team has not released any roadmap or concrete plan at this moment, but have mentioned that they want to release something before mint. They are also still debating about a community fund, but will definitely use parts of the proceeds for runway to build this project out.

The team also wants to do IRL events and many other things eventually, but does not have any concrete plans set at the moment.

How to become a Test Subject (allow list)?

The team is awarding Test Subject to community members that are early, engaged, kind, and creative. They are very ANTI GRIND as they do not want it to be about how much messages in discord are sent or how much engagement you have on twitter. Some ways that people have gotten Test Subject are below:

Early → Some early supports have gotten Test Subject
Engaged → There has been hidden messages, cyphers, and riddles in their content that have been discovered and led to Test Subject Status
Kind → Test subject has been granted to some that have helped the pssssd community
Creative → There has been multiple Test Subjects awarded to people that have shown creativity. That may be through Fan Art, Music Challenge, Videos, and more.

The Possessed NFT has started with only their twitter in late January. Their twitter following has risen drastically over the past few months from about 1,000 followers in January to over 200,000 in the middle of April and since has leveled off to around 220,000 follower in mid May.

The way the team has done their discord, has been new and innovative. They have launched with minimal interactions, only permitting chatting to Test Subjects and the general public at certain times. The team then implemented a 15 minute time limit for the general public to chat in their “waiting room”. At first this was done through a timers, but then they changed it to a reservation system or permit desk. This allowed the choice of times that the public could enter into the “waiting room” and is still the current system in use. They have recently opened a few more channels for people to post art, music, writing, and much more.

The project was created by Tom Watson and Joe Furr. They have both wrote articles doxxing themselves (see their linktree). They met when they were running a start up accelerator. They both got into web3 through crypto and have gotten more involved into NFT’s last year.

Tom is 31 year old and 6’6”. Tom went to Eastbourne College before entering the University of Warwick where he graduated in Computer Science in 2013. After his time in University, he co-founded Hubble with his partner Tushar Agarwal at the age of 22 and acted as their CTO. Hubble is a platform that helps configure, deliver, and manage all of your workspace needs in one place.

In his time there he coded the original platform, grew the team to over 50 people, and lead the engineering, product and design teams. He has helped the company raise over £10 million, won Deloitte’s 26th Fastest Growing Technology Company in the UK, won Property Week's Innovator of the Year and Best Places to Work, and was Forbes 30 under 30 Europe.

He was thinking to leave Hubble after 7 years as he wasn’t enjoying the role anymore and felt that he could not do his best for the company any more. After helping the company re-position and re-launch during the pandemic, he decided that it was the right timing to move on.

Over the next few months, he took sometime off and eventually started The Possessed with Joe.

Joe Furr is the Co-Founder and Creative Director of Point Studio, which is a design studio in London. Anneka Edwick is the other Co-Founder of Point. Point helps tech startups and other companies to create their brand identities and help these brands to design digital experiences for their target customers. This is done through web design, art direction, visual identity, and more. Some of the companies that Point has helped are Nested, Thriva, WorldRemit, and the list goes on.

Joe has a lot of past experience as a digital designer, working for companies such as Holler, BD Network, Boomerang Internet and Dunwoody.

Joe gets his inspiration for the art through two types of inspiration, subconscious and conscious. Some inspirations he notes in his mirror article are things from his childhood (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Space Jam, Super Mario) and things from his adulthood (Hip Hop: Kanye X Murakami, Gorillaz, Pharrell, East London: McBess, CaptainKris, Timmy Ham).
