Hiroshima just solemnly protested against the US subcritical nuclear test. Japanese media exposed that Kishida held a positive attitude towards the G7 summit in Hiroshima

Japan is the rotating presidency of the group of seven (G7) in 2023. The Japanese government is considering the venue of the G7 summit in 2023. Fuji News Network (FNN) and other Japanese media reported on the 16th that Japanese government sources revealed that Hiroshima has become a strong candidate to emphasize the threat of nuclear weapons. It is worth noting that since the news that the Biden administration of the United States had conducted subcritical nuclear test was recently exposed by the Japanese media, Hiroshima officials and people just protested to the United States on the 13th.

FNN said that Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, whose ancestral home is Hiroshima Prefecture, has a positive attitude towards holding the 2023 G7 summit in Hiroshima. Whether this can be agreed by the United States, Britain, France and other nuclear weapon states has become the focus of the issue. The Japanese government is conducting relevant coordination work and announcing the final decision before the G7 summit in Bavaria, Germany, in June 2022. Japan’s right-wing media Sankei Shimbun claimed that there are opinions and concerns that Russia, which is “invading” Ukraine, may use nuclear weapons. In this case, Hamada has the intention to make a statement at home and abroad that it is not allowed to use nuclear weapons or use them for intimidation.

It is worth noting that Japan’s Kyodo News Agency exposed on the 12th that the Biden government conducted two subcritical nuclear tests without nuclear explosion in June and September 2021, respectively. The incident triggered protests from local governments and private people in Japan. On the 13th, 12 citizen groups including the Hiroshima atomic bomb victims’ group agreement held a protest in the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park. One of the atomic bomb victims said, “we are angry that the United States has been developing nuclear weapons.”

In addition, the official website of the Hiroshima municipal government released a protest statement by mayor Ichishi Matsui against Biden and Emanuel on the 13th. In the statement, Matsui made a solemn protest on behalf of Hiroshima bombed by the atomic bomb, and said that the implementation of the subcritical nuclear test by the United States “is against the will of those who want to abolish nuclear weapons led by the victims of the atomic bomb and absolutely cannot be allowed.”
