On May 1, the new forces of car making successively released the delivery data in April. Statistics show that due to the repeated epidemic and the impact of the supply chain, the new forces of car building fell month on month in April, and Weilai automobile and ideal automobile also fell to varying degrees year-on-year.

According to the official data of several new car making forces, the five new car making forces delivered less than 10000 in April, and Zero run cars ranked first with 9087, which is the first time that Zero run cars ranked first in the delivery list of new car making forces for the first time. Since March, the sales volume of zero running cars has rebounded and got rid of the situation of being the bottom for a long time. Zero run C01, a new model of Zero run car, will be on pre-sale in May. This model will be equipped with Zero run car CTC battery chassis integration technology, becoming the world’s first electric vehicle without independent battery pack.

In contrast, the situation of “Wei Xiaoli” is relatively bad, and the three companies have halved month on month. Among them, the delivery volume of ideal vehicles in April was only 4167, ranking at the bottom, down 62.23% month on month. In addition, ideal automobile and Weilai automobile also fell to varying degrees year-on-year, 24.77% and 28.56% respectively.

Changzhou ideal automobile manufacturing base is located in the center of the Yangtze River Delta, with an annual production capacity of 100000 vehicles. More than 90000 ideal one delivered in 2021 are all produced by the base. However, affected by the epidemic, its supply chain, logistics and production have been seriously disturbed.

Shen Yanan, co-founder and President of ideal automobile, said that more than 80% of the parts suppliers of ideal automobile are distributed in the Yangtze River Delta, and a large part of them are located in Shanghai and Kunshan, Jiangsu. “Some suppliers are unable to supply, and some suppliers even completely shut down or shut down, resulting in the inability to continue production after digesting the existing parts inventory, which has a great impact on the production of ideal cars in April, resulting in the delay of new car delivery of some users.”

Similar to the ideal car situation, Weilai car encountered a shortage of parts due to the epidemic. The delivery volume in April was 4167, down 49.18% month on month. On April 9, Weilai automobile announced that the production of the whole vehicle had been suspended and the delivery of some vehicles would be delayed. Li Bin, founder of Weilai automobile, said, “in mid March, some of our parts were cut off from supply, and we reluctantly supported it by relying on some parts inventory until last week. Recently, there was an epidemic in Shanghai, Jiangsu and other places, and many partners were unable to supply goods and had to suspend production.”

Weilai automobile revealed that the demand for new car orders is still growing, but it needs to further overcome the pressure brought by the epidemic and supply chain. At present, the Hefei production base of Weilai automobile is gradually recovering.

Zhang Yichao, strategic consulting partner of Ernst & Young bozhilong, said in an interview with interface news that the delivery data is also affected by the changes of product layout and competitive environment to a certain extent. “For example, in the medium and high-end SUV market, Xiaopeng automobile and SAIC Group have also begun to join the competition. It is difficult for Weilai automobile to maintain market share by relying solely on ES6 and es8.”

Although the sales volume of Xiaopeng automobile reached 9002 this month, it fell 41.60% month on month. Xiaopeng automobile pointed out, “we have been severely challenged in many links such as production and transportation, and the delivery of more than 9000 units is not easy.” Next, Xiaopeng automobile will actively cooperate with upstream and downstream to overcome industrial difficulties and spare no effort to ensure production and smooth delivery.

It is worth mentioning that polar krypton delivered 2137 new cars this month, an increase of 19% month on month, with a cumulative delivery of 16385. In April, the monthly order volume of polar krypton 001 model broke 10000, a new high since delivery.

Since this month, the situation of epidemic prevention and control in Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Shanghai, where the automobile industry is developed, has been severe, there is a shortage of parts supply, and the production bases of finished vehicles in central and South China have been shut down one after another. At the same time, the residents’ income and consumption confidence in the sealed off areas have been impacted to a certain extent, which has become another factor restricting the recovery of the car market.

The passenger car market information joint meeting found that the retail target of major manufacturers fell sharply year-on-year in April. It is preliminarily estimated that the narrow passenger car retail market this month is about 1.1 million, a year-on-year decrease of 31.9%. At present, the white list of resumption of work and production in Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Shanghai has been released, enterprises have resumed production one after another, and logistics and transportation have been gradually unsealed. However, it will take a long time for the overall industrial chain to recover to the pre epidemic level.

Zhang Yichao believes that the auto market is still under pressure as a whole in May and is expected to gradually return to normal in June. “Due to the long automobile supply chain, only the resumption of work and production of primary and secondary suppliers is still not enough to solve the supply problem of all parts, and the supply problem in the upper reaches also needs to be solved in order to truly restore all automobile production capacity.”

Previously, Li Xiang, CEO of ideal automobile, wrote on social media that automobile brands should not only solve their immediate parts supply problems, but also analyze and investigate the survival problems of small and medium-sized parts suppliers, and provide decisive assistance.
