Since the beginning of the Russian invasion in February 2022, Ukraine has received approximately $225 million in cryptocurrency donations to support its efforts in countering the conflict. This data was reported by the analytical company Crystal Blockchain, as cited by CoinDesk.

Out of the total donations, the majority, around $83 million, came in the form of USDT (Tether), a stablecoin pegged to the US dollar. Ethereum donations amounted to approximately $79 million, making it the second most contributed cryptocurrency. Bitcoin donations ranked third, with a total of around $41 million.

In addition to the mentioned cryptocurrencies, donations were also received in other digital assets like Binance USD (BUSD) and Polkadot (DOT), among others.

Cryptocurrency donations have provided Ukraine with financial support to aid in its defense efforts during the ongoing conflict. The transparent and traceable nature of blockchain transactions allows for a clear record of these contributions, ensuring accountability and transparency in the allocation of funds.

The use of cryptocurrencies in humanitarian aid and supporting countries in times of crisis has gained traction in recent years. Cryptocurrencies offer advantages such as fast cross-border transactions and the ability to reach individuals in regions where traditional banking infrastructure may be limited or disrupted.

The donations from the crypto community have demonstrated solidarity and support for Ukraine in its fight against the invasion, and they highlight the growing role that cryptocurrencies can play in humanitarian initiatives worldwide.
