Recently, NTT, a large Japanese operator, announced the launch of a new service brand “NTT XR” with XR as the core, which will integrate and provide a complete set of XR services and solutions.
It is understood that the company defines XR as “extended reality, which is the general name of VR / Ar / Mr”, and combines the XR related services and solutions developed by NTT group into “NTT XR”.
So far, NTT has participated in XR projects of various individuals or enterprises, whether in hardware, software or services, including cooperation with Japanese real estate developer Mori Building Company to use AR and digital twin for demonstration, sales of magic leap 1 MR equipment in Japan, and cooperation with front-line production enterprises to promote ar remote cooperation.
NTT said that NTT XR will support a wide range of application fields such as entertainment, tourism, education, industry and commerce. For enterprise customers, NTT XR will develop and provide services such as teleconference, on-site work support, training, marketing, education and tourism. NTT XR also plans to introduce cloud rendering technology and other services into the service.
While NTT XR service was announced, NTT also launched a multi device compatible meta universe service XR world. It is reported that XR world is a free service, which is characterized by supporting custom virtual avatars and allowing users to experience social networking, music, animation, dance and other contents in the virtual space. In addition, activities will be held at XR world in cooperation with musicians and artists. From 2023, the service will expand from Japan to overseas.
