Aloha, welcome to Uqbar’s weekly rollup. Every Monday we’ll provide you with exciting updates on everything Uqbar: dev reports, media mentions, and general happenings around the Urbit ecosystem.

The Network Age is back! On this extra special episode, the boys are joined by Uqbar developer, Urbit explorer, and Network Age frontiersman ~dachus-tiprel to discuss the joys of peer-to-peer programming with a Web 1 aesthetic. We also touch on a few of ~dachus' recent projects, including %blog, a p2p publishing platform you can host from your own server, and %pyro, a testing script that has transformed into one of Urbit's most promising methods for low-cost hosting. All this plus "exiting", the instantiation of an IRL Party DAO, and whether programmers are more like artists or plumbers. Don't miss it.

Assembly Capital introduced Wigwam, an attempt to reimagine “how one joins the Urbit network and the value that the Urbit OS provides”. Since any software that implements Ames and has a valid signing key is an Urbit ship from the network perspective, Wigwam can potentially open up Urbit to running microcontrollers, “languages beyond Hoon, or zero-config onboarding to Urbit from mobile.” Check out this video from ~hosryc-matbel of the first ever Ames packet sent from an iOS device to the Urbit network in Swift.

Native Planet now supports Groundseg on ARM64, so you have additional ways to get on the network. If you have a Raspberry Pi with at least 6GB of RAM lying around, now’s your moment.

3

How about real-time collaborative note-taking with minimal JS (via Holium)?

4

Were you at the Volcano Summit? The running commentary by Sigilante is required reading.

It’s not new, but we haven’t previously mentioned the Portal app here. Portal’s a one-stop app for finding groups, games, podcasts, and Urbit tweeters. Install at ~worpet-bildet/portal.
