This is the beginning of the Tale of our Real Life DAO
For the last 4 years I have been the treasurer and board member of a 1000 person regional Burn based here in Berlin (Kiez Burn). Over that period we have been copying our big sibling borderland on a quest for radical decentralization. This was before my knees got really wet wading in the world of DAOs.

My main focus now is with a project called Dream World. We are a group of international artists based in Berlin that make large immersive art installations intertwined with interactive narrative driven theatre.
** *
Within our organization we have been through multiple forms of governance, starting with the traditional core team method, and transitioning through a collective structure which had underlining hierarchies. The greatest resistance from our collaborators was that decisions were not being laid out transparently.
**
**
Within a year, we migrated into a flat hierarchy experimenting with majority-voting proposals.
Within our collective we realized how powerful it can be if the organization is ACTUALLY in the hands of those running it and moving it forward, but also how much more responsibility that demands from everyone involved. Those of us immersed in the emerging Web3 world are excited to experiment with the DAO model to run real life physical and creative productions.

Coming from the world of artistic experiences, it appears to me that most of the currently popular DAOs are orientated around digital development and ownership. It is amazing to see these entities operating at such high levels with such big budgets. But we want to experiment with the real world, our Dream is physical. This is the beginning of our journey.

**
A theatrical production requires so much work. It is in and of itself an immersive experience. If we want to realize the true power of DAOs, we need to overcome some of the limitations this digital world imposes when applied physically.
**
**
How is the budget allocated? Who is responsible for hiring creative talent? How do we safely and reliably track people's progress? Who is accountable when shit hits the fan? How do you move fast enough to keep up with the high costs of a production, whilst including the DAO in relevant decisions?
**
I believe that the DAO model is not the answer, but a methodology. The answer lies within our exploration and experimentation with this method. We will document our journey, and open-source the model for other artistic minded groups to fulfil their visions with a fluid hierarchical model.
We are full-on ready to learn and grow, getting inspired by and giving back to the community.
**
**
In the end, a group of artists building an experience together is creative politics. And if we can implement our politics through a DAO, we can dream about a future world where decisions are directly being made by our community.
