Beijing, April 17 (Xinhua) according to the official website of the Russian government of St. Petersburg on the 16th, Major General Vladimir frolov “died” in the battle with Ukraine. Russia held a farewell ceremony for him in St. Petersburg, attended by the mayor of St. Petersburg.
The Associated Press reported that frolov’s forces were involved in the siege of Mariupol, Ukraine. Ukraine also said that many Russian generals and senior officers were killed in the conflict, but Russia did not respond to this statement.
Tass reported on March 20 that the deputy commander of Russia’s Black Sea Fleet Palli was killed in the battle for Mariupol.

Event background
Since the conflict between Russia and Ukraine broke out on February 24, there have been frequent news about the “killing of senior Russian generals” on Chinese and foreign social platforms. Ukrainian officials claimed that at least seven senior Russian generals had died in the Ukrainian battlefield, but Russia rarely responded to such news. “Surging Mingcha” integrated multiple clues to sort out the identity and “news of death” of these Russian generals who were claimed to be “killed in battle”.
Mingcha
Among these Russian generals who were declared “killed in battle”, the death of only one major general was jointly confirmed by Russia and Ukraine. Another four people, only Ukraine unilaterally or Russian unofficial channels reported the relevant death information, which was not confirmed by Russian authoritative sources. There are still various doubts about the “news of death” of the remaining two people.
Muhammad tushayev (major general, commander of the 141st special motorized regiment of the guards), in doubt
On February 27, Ukrainian State News Agency Ukrinform reported that according to the official telegraph channel of Ukraine’s Rada (parliament), a Kadyrov combat group near khostomer region in Kiev was destroyed by Ukrainian army, and the members of the group, including Mohammed tushayev, commander of the 141st regiment of Chechen forces of Russian guards, were annihilated.
Searching around keywords such as “khostomer Chechnya”, it can be found that the office of the president of Ukraine officially confirmed to the Ukrainian media Kiev independent on February 27 that on February 26, Ukrainian forces wiped out a Chechen special forces team in khostomer area near Kiev. However, the relevant news did not mention tushayev’s “death”.
After tushayev was declared “dead”, Chechnya denied the relevant news at the first time. Ramzan Kadyrov, President of the Republic of Chechnya of Russia, released a video claiming to call tushayev on his personal account on Vkontakte, a well-known Russian social platform, on February 26, the day when the “news of tushayev’s death” came out. In this 2-minute-05-second video, Kadyrov sits on the sofa, faces the camera, holds the mobile phone in his right hand, and laughs from time to time. The screen shows that the person talking to Kadyrov is marked as“ Анзор”, It has the same name as Azor pisayev, commander of the “Ahmat grozne” special police force.
Kadyrov wrote in the accompanying text of the video, “Bandra (editor’s note: leader of Ukrainian nationalist organization during World War II) The publicity of is being carried out in the mode of “false news”, which we have long been used to. This time, there are rumors that a group of Chechen soldiers were wiped out in the depths of Ukraine, including Mohamed tushayev, commander of the 141st special motorization regiment, and Azor pisayev, commander of the “Ahmat grozne” special police force. I contacted them and they were more energetic than all living people and more energetic than those who sat on the sofa and knocked out false news. These young men are high spirited and have no scars. They have plenty of ammunition and homemade dried meat (dried meat can give strength in the most difficult actions). They are very sorry that there are only 24 hours a day, otherwise they can end the operation today. “
Due to the lack of image information, Kadyrov’s call could not directly confirm that “tushayev” himself was still alive. However, in recent days, there have been many videos suspected of tushayev’s appearance on Twitter to prove that the “battle death” is not credible. A segment by twitter user @ osint_ Tactical video released on March 23 shows a picture of suspected tushayev commanding troops. The 7th to 9th seconds of the video shows that the time marked on the monitor is March 21, 2022. This means that if the video is authentic, tushayev will still be alive at least on March 21.
In addition, the news released by Ukrainian news agency in recent January also has inconsistencies. Following the announcement of “tushayev is dead” by quoting the news of Rada, Ukraine on February 27, on March 20, the news agency sent another message that on March 4, about 1200 Chechen National Guard members arrived (Ukraine) from Belarus via the Chernobyl restricted area, including the North Camp under the command of tushayev. The report specifically noted that tushayev “was killed in subsequent operations”. There is an obvious contradiction between this news and previous reports.
Deputy commander of the Russian army, major general svetsky (Group 41)
On March 7, Ukrainian news agency announced that Ukrainian troops killed Andrei sukhovetsky, deputy commander of the 41st combined arms army and major general of the Russian army, on March 2 local time.
After verification, sukhovitsky is a rare Russian soldier in the Russian Ukrainian conflict, who was jointly reported by the Russian and Ukrainian media and admitted to being killed in battle. Russia’s Pravda quoted Sergey chipilev, sukhovitsky’s comrade in arms, as saying on the social platform on March 3, “major general Andrei sukhovitsky, deputy commander of the 41st joint army of the army and Russian ground force, died in a special operation in Ukraine.”
A screenshot circulated on reddit and other social platforms shows that on March 3, chipilev once wrote on the Russian social platform VK that “it is a sad thing that our friend general Andrei sukhovitsky was killed on Ukrainian territory in a special operation
