We took a delve into building a stake pool because, for us, as we’re building out some technology on the Cardano platform, it made sense to have our own staking pool. This, for one, allows us to contribute back to the network so that we could help keep Cardano stable.

The second reason we’re doing this is it involves some personal gains to be collected here, which allows us to then use our staking pool to be able to perform all the transactions that we’re performing on our staking pool. With that out of the way, we’ll now get into some of the hardware and some of steps that we took to build a stake pool. One of the first things you need to do is build a set of nodes. Here, you should produce a main node, which is a producer node.

This is one of the nodes that is actually one of the producing blocks. So it will have your keys on them and this is a node that you’ll never want on the internet. What this means is that you shouldn’t put a public address on this node to prevent it from being publicly accessible, although it obviously has to be connected to the internet to be able to connect to the nodes.

This producer node will then connect to a relay node, or even a set of relay nodes. If there’s more than one relay node, then be aware that each of the relay node needs to have their own public IP address. We currently have two relay nodes.

The next piece that you need to have is an offline storage that contains your keys. This is a storage that you want to have what they call air gapped, or also known as offline cold storage. Air gapping is a term in security, where you have a machine that’s completely offline. This ensures that there’s no way it could ever be breached.

So what we’re doing for that is we’re using a Linux live USB drive, where we boot up the Linux live on it and use it to copy all of our keys and setup over to this Linux live distro that’s going to be run from a thumb drive. Then, we take this thumb drive and put it in a safe.

From there, you can build an intermediate server, which is going to be the one that actually is running haskell and doing the some of the smart contract work. This intermediate server will know to point directly to the set of nodes in a stake pool, so that all transactions that it processes will be processed through the stake pool. This will boost the reputation of a stake pool, as well as allows to charge the gas fees directly to you.

This is ultimately a great way to make an ulterior motive to running a stake pool, while still contributing back with a very high availability stake pool.

Now, let’s take a look at the hardware part for running a stake pool. In our case, we built out one very large VM. This comes with:

Moving on, we then sun a second server — a bare metal server for another relay node. This relay node will be assigned:

So this is all the hardware that we need in order to run our very own staking pool. As it’s pretty decent, we’re able to run a very high availability stake pool.

Hash Rate dapat kit gunakan sebagai 2 hal acuan terhadap ketertarikan miners terhadap mining Bitcoin dan tingkat keamanan blockchainnya. Semakin tinggi hash rate, maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa keamanan blockchain Bitcoin makin bagus dan demand mining Bitcoin meningkat.

Secara jangka panjang, Hash Rate berkolerasi dengan harga Bitcoin. Jika Hash Rate naik, harga juga ikutan naik. Kalau Hash Rate turun, demikian pula harganya.

Kemarin, Hash Rate Bitcoin turun dikarenakan miners di Kazakhstan mengalami pemadaman internet. Pemadaman tersebut, diakibatkan karena protes warga terhadap pemerintah karena harga bahan bakar di sana sangat mahal.

Sangat wajar karena mining hanya dapat dilakukan ketika ada internet dan juga Khazastan merupakan negara dengan miners Bitcoin di bawah terbanyak setelah China melakukan banned Bitcoin Mining bulan Juli lalu.

Jika nanti ada pemadaman listrik/mining banned di negara2 dengan miners Bitcoin yang banyak, maka kita perlu waspada. Bisa jadi dump kaya gini bisa terulang kembali.

Atau yang bisa kita kenal dengan Bank Sentral Amerika, resmi akan meningkatkan suku bunga acuan tahun ini demi menekan inflasi.

Sudah menjadi pengetahuan umum bahwa The Fed, ngeprint banyak duit di tahun 2020 karena masalah covid. Bahkan, Dollar yang ada disirkulasi saat ini, sekitar 40% dicetak tahun kemarin. Oleh karena itu, sangat masuk akal untuk The Fed untuk meningkatkan suku bunga acuan untuk menekan laju inflasi.

Sehingga demand terhadap aset berisko tinggi seperti kripto mulai berkurang dan orang-orang lebih memilih untuk menabung karena bunganya menggiurkan. Karena hal ini juga pasar saham baik di luar negeri dan Indonesia mengalami penurunan harga karena modal untuk melakukan ekspansi menjadi mahal.

Oke, kita udah tau penyebabnya. Lalu, apakah pasar crypto akan balik lagi atau bahkan ATH? Mari kita lihat data on-chain.

3 bulan terakhir, aktivitas on-chain makin sepi. Hal ini bisa jadi terjadi karena 2 hal yang kita bahas di atas. Dan, belum ada tanda-tanda recovery.

Hal ini juga diberbaringi dengan volume transaksi yang juga semakin sedikit. Saat ini rata-rata transaksi bitcoin berada di angka $11 miliar. Sudah turun lebih dari 50% dari bulan Desember.

Selain itu, pengguna aktif Bitcoin mengalami stagnasi selama 3 bulan terakhir. Peaknya mencapai 1.4 juta pengguna dan sekarang kurang dari 950 juta pengguna.

Kalau ketiga hal tidak ada peningkatan yang significant, maka siap2 untuk hal terburuk yang mungkin terjadi.
