What is a social token?
What do you mean by acceleration/incubation?
Do you want to accelerate/incubate your DAO or your social token?
Let’s dig deeper into Seed Club and realize what they do.
Social Tokens are the broad category of crypto projects that often include Personal Tokens, Creator Tokens, Community, and Brand tokens. Social tokens provide fans with financial incentives and reward them with ownership for their early support and continuing collaboration. It offers creators new ways to engage their audience and monetize their work. Individuals like Alex Masmej ($ALEX) and Jess Sloss ($JAMM) have launched personal tokens that represent some future claim on their earnings or time. We’ve also seen communities like Karma Dao, JAMM, and Cherry launch community tokens that give ownership and access to a telegram account or newsletter.
Accelerators are private organizations those mentor startups in the process of making MVPs. But incubators are usually government organizations that advise entrepreneurs in creating ideas. Unfortunately, we do not see a clear boundary for accelerators and incubators in web3.
Since successful DAOs were born from this accelerator, there have been many talks about Venture DAOs and incubation DAOs, you can refer to this article by pet3erpan to have a complete understanding of the different DAO structures. Seed Club is a DAO that builds and invests in tokenized communities. It is included in the incubation/acceleration DAO category. an experimental incubator for social tokens or simply a DAO for DAOs. They are a group of early social token issuers, technologists, and thought leaders collaborating to help creators conceptualize and launch Social Token projects.
Seed club also has a podcast: weekly interviews with leading buildings in web3. (https://seedclub.libsyn.com/).
With holding 10 $CLUB token (currently, 1CLUB = 5.6$) you can join the DAO and get full access to discord, private events, educational content, and governance. $CLUB can be earned by contributing to Seed Club, whether through intermittent bounties or more regular contributions. Visit their bounties channel on Discord for more information. (The official CLUB contract: 0xF76d80200226AC250665139B9E435617e4Ba55F9)
The accelerate course in the seed club is a 12-week course and is a mix of workshops, presentations, interactive sessions, and fireside chats. Models that seed club advises DAOs to create MVP:
Membership models, community mapping, token design, crowdfunding, legal, web3 business models, governance, onboarding contributors, media strategy, DAO management, and more. It also has a job board section where DAOs who were accelerated, announce their job positions, and people can apply for them.
Seed Club does not provide capital investment in projects as part of the accelerator but all projects that successfully launch a token through the accelerator receive an allocation of $CLUB tokens.
Seed club also receives 3% of tokens from projects that participate in the accelerator courses.
their fifth acceleration program (SC05) is open from August 1 to August 15. Decisions will be announced in mid-September 2022.
Why should we apply to this accelerator program?
The first reason:
Investors. On May 18, 2022, the seed club raised a series A round with a 15M$ funding amount. Below you can see the investors:
My strategy to understand the quality of the project is Smart Money, which works behind the project. In this VC round, USV makes this attractive. USV has a different strategy than venture capital in this field.
It is common for venture capitalists to say that they invest in people, not ideas. This group argues that startups' inherent uncertainty means that attaching oneself too closely to a particular idea is foolish. Instead, you should back a builder exceptional enough to reach a strong product-market fit through experimentation and iteration. Union Square Ventures does not adhere to this approach. While the New York-based firm cares about founders, it is willing to back atypical entrepreneurs with exceptional ideas. Twitter, Etsy, and Tumblr were all created by founders that many other venture investors turned away. USV saw past this and recognized the uniqueness of the business being built. The idea, more than anything else, was what counted.
USV does not believe in a lot of money for management and investment and believes that if you have less money, you can focus on better projects and invest. So that since 2004, he has managed 2.5 billion in the capital.
I introduced USV as a trend maker. Among the investments it made, was Twitter in 2007, Tumblr in 2007, Coinbase in series A in 2013, and The company behind file coin, protocol labs in 2016. This article from the generalist, it is fully explained USV. (https://www.readthegeneralist.com/briefing/union-square-ventures)
The second reason:
One of the ways to determine the performance of a VC or accelerator is to go back to the past and see what projects they have worked with so far and which are now successful projects. For example, the reason why Paul Graham and YC were able to create a lot of credibility in startups was to accelerate projects like Airbnb, Coinbase, Dropbox, and other successful examples.
I saw the performance of the seed club from another point of view. seed club focuses on social tokens and DAOs and has had 4 programs so far, the two initial programs were before attracting 2 million dollars of seed capital, and from these two initial programs, successful social tokens were created. For example:
RAC: He is a DJ and Grammy award-winning recording artist and $TAPE creator
Alex Masmej: Who created the Alex token, the first social token ever created for an influencer
Forefront, Global Coin Research, Party DAO, etc.
DAOs that were accepted in the third program:
Krause House DAO: A community of basketball fans whose goal is to collectively own and govern an NBA franchise. Until now, they have been able to participate in the BIG 3 league, one of the basketball leagues, which consists of 12 teams of 3 players. This league will also use NFTs to buy team franchises for 2022.
Pussy Riot : A protest art group that started an art-activist movement in Russia and worldwide ten years ago. Today, hundreds of people identify as a part of the Pussy Riot community.
Water & Music: A newsletter pioneering a new collaborative research model for the music industry to generate insights and perspectives. In the NFT music industry, we have no other source of information, newsletter, and research except water & music.
DAOs who were present on the 4th program demo day:
Boys Club: Boys Club is building a world where women win in web3. We're onboarding the next 1 million women to crypto through events, curriculum, media, and more.
KALI: DAO creation & incorporation. It helps in the legislation and legalization of DAO, and it is a service DAO.
The third reason:
One of the most crucial days in accelerator courses is the demo day.
Deal sourcing is one of the important steps for VCs, who either use external forces or internal forces for sourcing. One of the most key resources for finding third-party projects is the demo days at Accelerators.
On the demo day, VCs choose companies for investment among the startups that have been accelerated. DAOs participating in the fifth round will have the chance to be backed by a crypto VC.
The fourth reason:
The most notable advantage of any accelerator is its mentors. The following people can be mentioned among the important mentors of the seed club:
Risten Stone (Balancer), Jacob Horne (Zora), Nicole Davis (SCD), Trevor McFedries (Brud), Cooper Turley (Fire Eyes), Stani (Aave), Denis Nazarov (Mirror), Scott Moore (Gitcoin), Ben Jacobs (SCD), Nick Grossman (Union Square Ventures), Pri Desai (The LAO), Marc Weinstein (Mechanism Capital), Nima Ashgari (SCV), Patrick Rivera (Mirror), Jarrod Dicker (Dark Star DAO), Packy McCormick (Not Boring), Andre Anjos ($RAC), Alex Masmej ($ALEX), Connie Digital ($HUE), Brian Flynn (Rabbit Hole), Carlos Gomes ($FF), Wong Joon Ian ($JOON), Jordan Lyall ($MEME), Joyce Yang ($GCR), Louis Giraux (TwoPlus), Richard Kim ($RNG), Gmoney (Twitter Punk).

TL: DR

Thank you for reading this far. I hope that if you apply for Seed Club's acceleration program, you get accepted and use their mentorship to make a better community.
