Sometimes when you are telling people how the World around us is transforming, they find it hard to believe. You can show them the robots that are replacing assembly workers and police officers, the algorithms that will replace book keepers, and even the smart contracts that will replace lawyers and they will still defend their belief that they are in a “protected” class.
That’s because some people have to see it to believe it.
Understanding that is the preferred learning method for 85% of the population, when I first got into digital fashion I would always use snap chat filters or the sims as an example to make it simple. For example, everyone that has the game, has sims, and those sims needs clothes, simple. Now when you bring those avatars into our real lives and they are now the new hot IG models or hosting our favorite award shows, things start to come full circle.
This week I had the honor of working with ÀSÁ , the latest Digi Elf to enter the Global Designer Network and her creator Majestic Apparel.
Lets dive right in….
Mo’Casso: so let’s get started ! Why don’t we start with you introducing yourself and your brand? Tell us a little bit about it
Majestic Apparell: My name is Fagbamila Oluwatoyin, I am from Nigeria. I am a fashion illustrator and a Digital fashion designer and also the creator of the ever gorgeous ÀSÁ @asathemetaelf . I am also the creative director of Majestic Apparell , a digital only Fashion Brand.
Mo’Casso: Very nice, and ÀSÁ would you like to introduce yourself as well?
ÀSÁ: Hi, I am ÀSÁ (Hawk ). I am an elf from Africa , I am a Digi Model. I was born on the 23rd of November 2021… I was created by Majestic Apparell… Guess she must have heard how amazing and smart elves are that she had to summon me here , and who am I not to head to her call? Hehe
Mo’Casso: That’s amazing, very nice to meet you both! It’s been an honor working with you all this week! Fagbamila what inspired you to call on ÀSÁ from the elf realm ?
Majestic Apparell: ÀSÁ is like a combination of beautiful images I have compiled in my head lately , I see myself in her…She is the part of me I would love to unleash but my introvert self won’t allow me. So I had use my digital skills to bring her to life! Even when it comes to personal style , For me in the real world , I am the Oversized T-shirt and joggers kind of person. I would love to be dramatic so I brought in ÀSÁ to fill in the gaps, so anything she does, I feel like I am the one doing it, I am that connected to her.
Mo’Casso: Wow, that is a beautiful connection ! ÀSÁ aside from the amazing fashion sense what are some of your favorite characteristics you’ve been able to bring to life or look forward to showing more of to the world ?
ÀSÁ: Aside from fashion , I am lover of Nature, Magic, Art and poetry … Obviously those are like natural characteristics that comes with being an elf , but modeling is my favorite part… dang!!! That is my element.. I always feel like I am in a different world anytime I am on a shoot set!
Mo’Casso: Lol maybe I am an elf and don’t even know it, those are similar characteristics of myself ! Haha Fagbamila can you share a little insight on some of the ideas you have in store for ÀSÁ as she enters the metaverse ?
Majestic Apparell: Haha …. Okay , I have a lot of things in stock for ÀSÁ and I want to take it a step at a time. I want her to get very comfortable with her new environment first, not going to push her too hard, I will allow her breath… yea…and I am launching her Realm on Digitalax soon and she will be working with a couple of GDN members and of course outside GDN too . She is very opened to collaborations and commissioned projects… She is just a free bird , I named her ÀSÁ (Hawk ) for a reason.
Mo’Casso: So much intention was put into creating her! ÀSÁ is there any advice you have for other digi models entering new environments ?
ÀSÁ: I will say … Be true to yourself, have your own vibe, tell your story and be Open minded.
Mo’Casso: And Fagbamila do you have any advice for designers that are creating their digital fashion brands and/or avatars ?
Majestic Apperall: Find your own art accent, your own version of “beautiful” doesn’t have to appeal to anyone else , Have your niche , Just do you , have fun while at it and also find the right community that preaches what you stand for .. for me… I found GDN hehe
Mo’Casso: Ameen to that! It’s been amazing connecting with so many other like minded pioneers in the space and building together! I’m excited for what the future holds for us all! Thank you for sharing a piece of your story today!
Some may wonder how does a digital fashion label with digi models tie into the RAW realm? Well, as I first mentioned these are our new hot IG models and influencers so one day all of that influence will be theirs. When you’re able to take your physical creations and transform them into digital assets that the digital world can consume, well that’s where the magic really begins.
