About Exactly Protocol

Exactly Protocol is a decentralized and open-source protocol that provides an autonomous fixed and variable interest rate market enabling users to exchange the time value of their assets frictionlessly.

Exactly Protocol’s mission is to bring the Time Value of Money to the DeFi ecosystem by decentralizing it. This means that users can make deposits or loans at a fixed rate for a predetermined period, similar to “fixed income” in traditional finance.

Unlike other fixed-rate DeFi protocols that determine fixed rates based on the price of various maturity tokens, Exactly Protocol is the first to determine fixed rates based on the Utilization Rate of pools with different maturity dates. This means the protocol does not need a custom Automated Market Maker (AMM) to trade maturity tokens; it only needs a variable rate pool that consistently provides liquidity to the different fixed rate pools.

Improving the end-user experience

Major DeFi protocols can be overwhelming and challenging for those new to crypto, with excessive information displayed in dashboards simultaneously. That is why Exactly Protocol has recently launched a new user interface (UI) that aims to make DeFi lending and borrowing more accessible to beginners and intermediate users.

The end user is the most important part of the DeFi ecosystem, and we must provide them with user-friendly platforms. That’s why Exactly Protocol focuses on simplicity and usability as essential elements to ensure the widespread adoption of DeFi. By creating a simple protocol, we can empower users of all levels of expertise to participate in DeFi.

What is new at Exactly Protocol?

To address this issue of the complexity of most DeFi protocols, the team developed a new interface that simplifies the user experience by displaying only the most relevant information clearly and concisely. This upgrade aims to make it easier for users to understand how much money they will receive or owe in interest, regardless of their expertise level in DeFi.

Key Improvements

Exactly Protocol’s new UI is designed to make DeFi lending and borrowing more accessible to users who are not experts in this field. The goal has been to lower the barrier of entry for beginners and intermediate users and communicate all the necessary information with clarity and appeal.

Plus, a new feature has been added to make it easier for users to manage their loans or deposits. Now, users can add the maturity date of their loan or deposit to their calendar with just a few clicks.

The process behind our new UI

During the process of improving the Exactly Protocol interface, the first step taken by the Product team has been to work hard on the organization and grouping of data to simplify the complex interactions between the users and the protocol interface.

“We shifted the focus from the pool type (Variable/Fixed) to the pool duration and interest rates. We also included a summary section to inform how much money users will owe or earn in advance. This helps users easily compare their lending options and financial implications,” said Deadpine, Product Designer at Exactly Protocol.

During the design phase, one of the crucial aspects was improving the text on buttons for maximum efficiency. According to Deadpine,

“regarding wording, I focused on limiting the technical words to the minimum and finding simpler words to explain the app’s complexity, and interactions -ChatGPT became a great colleague for this task-.”
