The first shared transfer Lane in Bishan district was officially put into use

Recently, Xiaobian learned from the Chongqing traffic patrol police official account that the first “shared transfer lane” in Bishan district was officially put into use at the intersection of Xuesong road and Daishan Avenue.

The shared transfer lane can make full use of the idle time of the opposite lane, temporarily add a left turn lane, guide the vehicles that need to turn left to queue up at the intersection in advance, and pass 10 to 15 more vehicles in each traffic light cycle, which greatly relieves the traffic pressure at the intersection during peak hours.

Generally speaking, shared transfer Lane means that when other lanes are released at the traffic light intersection, the idle Lane will be shared with left turn vehicles, so as to improve the number of left turn vehicles passing within the green light time and reduce traffic congestion and queuing time.

So how to walk the shared transfer lane and what should we pay attention to?

01 lane traffic rules

A shared lane sign is set up 150 meters away from the entrance, and a lane indicator light is set up 70 meters away from the entrance. The indicator light adopts red, yellow and green directions. The green light indicates that entry is allowed and the red light indicates that entry is prohibited. Vehicles using shared transfer lanes need to pass according to the indicator light;

02 shared direction limit

Vehicles are only allowed to turn left on Cedar Road to enter Daishan Avenue. When passing the signal intersection in front, vehicles are only allowed to turn left to enter Daishan Avenue;

03 sharing time limit

The opening time of shared transfer lane is the peak time in the morning and evening every day, i.e. 8:00-8:50, 17:30-18:20. The opening time will be adjusted according to the traffic flow at the intersection, and the rest of the time will not be used;

04 no parking at entrance

A yellow grid line is drawn at the entrance of the shared transfer Lane (original Lane). When the road in front of the grid line is full and the signal light of the shared lane is green, subsequent vehicles shall not stop in the grid line to prevent other vehicles from entering the shared transfer lane.

05 intersection signal light release

Vehicles entering the intersection through the shared transfer Lane need to comply with the traffic signal of the intersection in addition to passing according to the lane indicator.

It should be noted that:

During the opening period of the shared transfer lane, vehicles turning right on Daishan Avenue and entering Cedar Road need to drive on the right and shall not occupy the shared transfer lane;

Before the left turning vehicles on Cedar Road enter the shared transfer lane, they should wait for the vehicles in the shared transfer lane to be cleaned up and enter according to the lane indicator.
