An open-source web3 access management system

In the last couple of months, we've been heads down building. And we got tired of waiting. During our closed beta, we’ve authorized hundreds of thousands of transactions to understand the needs of a web3 access management system.

Today, we’ve released it fully open-source. Including a key vault for signing EVM transactions. We believe you should be able to build an institutional wallet stack from entirely open source components.

The Armory Stack is an access management system tailored for use cases that need strong authentication and fine-grained authorization. It is designed to secure the usage of private keys, wallets, and web3 applications.

Secure, Open, and Modular

The Armory Stack is designed to address the unique security challenges of the web3 ecosystem. Here’s what makes it stand out:

  • Policy Engine: Our core component, a sophisticated tool for fine-grained authorization, enabling developers to create tailored access policies for their specific needs. It is modular and can seamlessly integrate with any key management systems. It evaluates if an action can be performed, and returns a Permit or Forbid decision.

  • Next-Gen Auth System: A highly customizable authorization system that deploys the policy engine in a variety of secure configurations, bringing a strong trust model to the engine’s decision results.

  • Vault: A secure storage solution for private keys and sensitive data, designed to protect your most critical assets in the decentralized world.

Why Open Source?

We believe this is the right choice, for a couple of reasons.

  1. Enhancing Security through Transparency: Open source software inherently boosts security by making the source code accessible for review and contributions from a broad community of developers. This openness allows for continuous auditing, rapid identification, and remediation of vulnerabilities, significantly enhancing the overall security posture of the ecosystem.

  2. Reducing Vendor Lock-In: Open sourcing prevents the dilemma of choosing between secure key management and the high switching costs associated with proprietary systems. By releasing our full core functionality as open-source—not simply the SDKs—we ensure that users do not have to compromise on security or be at the whims of opaque system operators.

  3. Supporting Open Standards: By publishing our projects under open source licenses, we seek to foster adoption of open standards. This facilitates interoperability and integration within the broader ecosystem, attracting a wide range of contributors and accelerating the evolution of our projects and related technologies.

We call on web3 developers building b2b applications or wallets, to explore our solution. The Armory Stack offers a robust, secure foundation for your project, allowing you to focus on innovation and user experience while leaving the access management to us.

Join Us on This Journey

This is just the beginning. We invite you to explore our stack and dive into the code.

Check out our repo here and our technical documentation here. If you're interested in more details or the hosted version and how we help teams and protocols secure the usage of private keys, wallets, or web3 applications, please contact us.

For those attending EthCC in Brussels this week, our team is here and we look forward to connecting with you in person and discussing how we can collaborate.

Let’s build a more open, secure, and innovative web3 ecosystem together. LFG! 🚀
