Fly With Us: Firefly’s Major Upgrades

After a few months of building, we are launching Firefly 0.6—a significant product and brand upgrade from our first product thesis in February 2023.
Our goal is to forge a path to Web3 native communities through open, decentralized social networks—and you, the artists, collectors, alpha hunters, and anons that make up the Firefly community.
A Brand Upgrade Rooted in Communities
NFTs are what brought many of us to Web3. And, most NFTs cannot exist with just one pixel—it takes millions. Firefly's brand upgrade is more than just a fresh coat of paint—it represents a deeper transformation and a persona exuding fun and playfulness to you, a Web3 power user. This revitalization has captivated the attention of thousands, resulting in over 30,000 people on the Firefly waitlist.
Web3-first with Lens and Farcaster
Twitter accounts are no longer required to enter Firefly. This is a key step to reducing dependency on any single platform and embracing open Web3 protocols as our foundation. In addition, a few other improvements and newly designed features are brought to this version:
1. Simple Login: Use your Lens identity to access a unified feed with your connections' tweets, Lens posts, Farcaster casts, Mirror publications, DAO governance, and NFT activities - all in one place. Farcaster login capabilities will be launched in a few weeks.
2. Cross-Posting: You can now easily reach all of your friends and followers on Firefly by cross-posting to Twitter and Lens. Cross-posting with Farcaster is coming soon.
3. Customizable Feed Source: By choosing different subscriptions, you can now tailor your own social discovering experience.
4. Cleaner Feeding: Enjoy the simple and clean social experience ever with our improved spam prevention filters.
Firefly Pass NFT
Securing your early access is now simpler than ever with the Firefly Pass NFT, replacing the one-off Invitation Code. The rules for our first batch of allowlist has been announced on Twitter.

Championing Public Forums
Community fragmentation is on the rise with the launch of Threads, Bluesky, and countless other social apps. This is why Firefly’s aggregated social feed emerges as a product of unity. We advocate for the importance of the social graph and the need for social networks to serve as aggregating hubs. We believe open dialogue and collective participation are essential elements in creating a sense of "public" and driving positive change.
A Future Roadmap: Welcoming Open Social Protocols
Looking ahead, we plan on adding open social protocols like ActivityPub into our ecosystem. Today, this means the 4 million+ users of Mastodon (a project heavily supported by Mask Network, the team behind Firefly) will become part of the Firefly community. In the near future, posts from the 100 million Meta users who signed up for Threads would be possibly accessible in the Firefly app too.
