Science is usually slow. Boring. Locked away in labs where only a handful of people get to see what’s happening.

Not here. Not at pump.science.

Today, we’re excited to share the results from our first RODeo, a live-streamed mouse experiment on the rotarod. This marks a key milestone in our research protocol, which has moved from worms to flies and now mice.

For the first time, you got to place your predictions, watch the science happen,  and see the results unfold in real-time.

Let’s break it down.

Rolling with the Mice

We’ve already tested Urolithin A and Rifampicin in worms and flies—now it’s time to see how they perform in mice. The Setup?

  • Nine brave mice.

  • Two life-extending compounds: Urolithin A (URO) & Rifampicin (RIF).

  • A rotating rod designed to test endurance, strength, and balance.

  • live-streamed in real-time, so the community could watch the action unfold.

To make things even micier, we partnered with Hedgehog Markets, letting the community predict the winner.

Would the PhDegen crowd make the right call? Or were they about to get played by an underdog?

Or should we say... undermice.

The Predictions: Who Did the Community Pick?

Predictions for First RODeo on Hedgehog Markets
Predictions for First RODeo on Hedgehog Markets

Through our collaboration with Hedgehog Markets,  our PhDegen community put their money where their mouse is —predicting which mouse would stay on the rod the longest.

Community Favorites:

  1. Lionel Mousey – The undisputed favorite, leading the market with $385 in bets and a 30.6% implied chance of victory.

  2. Alex Rodentriguez – A strong contender, backed by several high-confidence wagers.

  3. Mousain Bolt & Lemice Hamilton – Solid odds, expected to put up a fight.

And then there was Lance Hairstrong—the longshot with just $17 in bets (1.3% implied chance)—a true underdog.

So… did the market get it right?

What Went Down: The RODeo Results

Some mice dominated. Others? Not so much.

Top Performers:

Total Time on Rotatod in Seconds by Mouse
Total Time on Rotatod in Seconds by Mouse
  1. Lionel Mousey- Lived up to the hype, staying on the rod for 901 seconds. Absolute machine.

  2. Alex Rodentriguez - Kept it close with 824 seconds. Strong. Consistent. A true endurance athlete.

  3. Lemice Hamilton - Solid 725 seconds before tapping out.

Compound Insights:

Mouse Performance Over Time
Mouse Performance Over Time
  • Mice were dosed for four days leading up to the event.

  • Too soon to tell if the compounds are having an effect but RIF is looking better than URO in the firs trial.

This is just one test—but these early results are already making us rethink which interventions actually improve endurance.

The RODeo by the Numbers

  • Participants: Over 2,700+ live viewers on X and YouTube

  • Predictions: $1,256 in community predictions placed on Hedgehog Markets

Whether you backed a champion or got rugged by a mouse, you were part of the first-ever live-streamed longevity experiment with prediction markets.

Why This Matters

Most research happens behind closed doors. We’re changing that.

By making science live, interactive, and gamified, we’re not just running experiments—we’re creating a system where anyone can engage and participate in the next scientific breakthrough.

The best research shouldn’t be hidden. It should be a game that everyone can play.

What’s On the Horizon for pump.science?

This was just Week 1 of our 8-week RODeo series.

  • More RODeo trials – We’re tracking these mice over multiple weeks to see if the effects hold.

  • New compounds – Expanding into new worm studies with VitaDAO.

  • Human trials – Pulse wearable experiments are on the horizon.

Don’t miss our next RODeo. Register now to watch live and make your predictions for round 2 here.

Big Thanks to Our MVPs: The Mice

Shoutout to our little furry champions—they’re pushing the boundaries of what we know about endurance, aging, and performance.

About pump.science

pump.science is a crypto-powered research protocol for launching and funding scientific experiments, starting with longevity studies. Born in the trenches of DeSci, the protocol enables users to launch compound tokens, fund real scientific experiments through trading fees, and watch research unfold in real-time—from worm studies to human trials. pump.science is making science self-custodial, transparent, and maximally degen**.** For more information, visit pump.science or follow us on X.
