Introducing SPACE ID: Your Universal Identifier - SPACE ID!
May 19th, 2023

The SPACE ID (SID)

As we are approaching the Web3 age with full speed, the emergence of decentralized identity and various Web3 name services have created robust identity systems, which include readable usernames that are portable across individual dApps and blockchains. We already see how those applications greatly improve accessibility, and they will no doubt become a fundamental component of the future world.

We believe that the core of Web3 is to become the gateway between decentralized identities and the physical/digital world, and we are ready to take initiative to bring this to another level. aiming to become the leader of this.

So why SPACE ID too?

It’s simple. Most identifiers are segregated and limited within different blockchains and dApps. We want to take it to another dimension. SPACE ID is building a universal name service network with one Oracle which seamlessly connects people, information, assets, and applications across blockchains. It’s decentralized, censorship-resistant, and open-sourced. We aim to build SID around the following properties:

  • A universal username equipped with cross-chain interoperability

  • A decentralized identity in a Single Source of Truth system with access to any resource that associates with the name

  • Ad hoc Oracle chain to enhance scalability and availability

Our Starting Features: .bnb Blockchain Domain

Yes, .bnb is here! We are beyond excited to launch the first version of SID with a BNB Chain domain name service. This will let everyone own their first BNB Chain domain name, and will become the standard domain identifier to be integrated with its whole ecosystem.

With this starting feature of SID:

  • Anyone can register for .bnb domains to replace the traditional BNB Chain addresses.

  • Users will have the domain NFTs which represent the ownership of the domain name.

  • You can set custom records to your .bnb domains to enjoy an easier user experience with thousands of dApps in the BNB Chain ecosystem.

SID: One Name for All

Let’s cut to the chase: ENS is cool and .bnb will be massive, but imagine it can also be access to everything else. With the ecosystem expanding exponentially every day, it’s obvious we need a universal identifier to coexist across various multiple blockchains and dApps.

Introducing “:”

The traditional structure of domain naming services is “domain.tld/filepath”. However, with SID, we are innovating a superior layout.

SID will start with a colon symbol. Simple as that, but it can do much more. We ensure a domain name should be only registered once and any chain complying with the protocol should forbid the registration of the same name. Thus a domain name will only be used to identify a single resource no matter where the resource is located at.

Scenarios for SIDs New Innovative Structure

  • Scenario 1: “:luke” can be registered as Luke’s SID across all SPACE ID supported blockchains.

  • Scenario 2: Yuga Labs can acquire the TLD of “yuga:” and open for registration for their community only. If Luke is one of their users he can register his very own “yuga:luke” domain. MeebitsDAO developers can also register the domain “yuga:meebits”, and map the domain to Meebits smart contract on Ethereum. In this way, the Meebits NFT with the ID 1024 on Ethereum can be configured to display as “yuga:meetbits/2626”.

More than a Name

With more users onboarding to the web3 world, numerous smart contract transactions are happening in the alternative L1 chains such as BNB Chain, Fantom, Polygon, etc. Or layer-2 chains such as Polygon and Arbitrum. As we enter the metaverse world, a dApp cannot limit itself in a single blockchain. Universal identification of resources can help dApps achieve much better interoperability and flexibility. This is where SPACE ID comes in. With SPACE ID, you can trade cryptos, lend tokens, mint NFTs, and buy tickets or even homes in the future highly decentralized world easier by using only one ID. And all the data privacy related to the ID will be owned by the ID owner.

Your SID is more than just a name. It is also your multi-chain identity in the metaverse.

Ad Hoc Oracle Chain to Enhance Scalability and Availability

Space ID is powered by Lucas, an ad hoc blockchain that bridges and stores your data on different chains. Other two components are implemented in the SPACE ID architecture to enhance security and availability: Jedi and Yoda.

Jedi

Jedi is a smart contract running on various chains for name registration and resolution. It only accepts names that have been granted validity from Yoda.

Yoda

Yoda is an Oracle network that ensures the uniqueness of names registered across multiple chains. It will collect the registration events from different chains, consolidate the information, and grant authentication signatures to users who want to register or bridge names on any Jedi.

Lucas

Lucas is the director of everything. It’s the transcript, which is maintained by Yoda, that keeps the registration metadata.

Redirect here and register for your interest!

As mentioned above, this is only the beginning. We are actively working on new functionality and integrations, so stay tuned for more!
