Besides Axie, gamefi sector have a lot of other great projects as well.

Only Reward Among The Best

P2E gamefi models failed because of unlimited rewards, regardless of rank, level or player. Token values can be heavily diluted due to this kind of reward system.

How about only reward the best players? Instead of allocating the rewards to every players, it is feasible to allocate a huge portion of the reward and give it only to the best players.

Not only does this incentivize player to claim that ladder or level up their rank, this is also an natural filters for bad economical activities (e.g. Player using multiple accounts or autonomous script to get more tokens reward to dump)

This incentive create a tight bond between the players and the game ecosystem, it also prioritized the nature of “Play” instead of earn. Players ultimately are required to have necessary skillset/in-game achievement/rank in order to receive huge reward to keep them going.

User Stickiness

Take MMORPG as an example, using the reward system mentioned in the previous paragraph would dramatically increase user stickiness. With a fair ranking system and reward system, player would develope patience and interest to the gameplay, while enjoying the reward based on their level of participation and skillset.

Pain Point

Many IQ games that are specifically skills based will not work under this reward mechanism, e.g. many average players will refuse to spend time earning in a “GO” game since it is too skills-demanding and the entry barrier is too high.

Retention Rate

Let’s again use MMORPG games as an example, having a huge reward upon reaching certain rank or achievement will highly motivate players to play more and spend more time, therefore increasing the user retention rate and DAU.

Future of Gamefi/Web3

Web3 gaming sector is still on the immature stage, waiting on a platform level entity to enforce a solid, educated and experienced revolution that lead the Web3 gaming sector into gamefi 2.0
