. I am often asked, does a monk like me have troubles? To be honest, yes. Monks are also secular people, but also one of the general public. We practice according to the "Zen" method, although the ultimate goal is to achieve a natural state of no joy and no worry, but, in fact, it is very difficult to achieve. In reality, we will still have troubles, but the practice of Zen allows us to eliminate our troubles in various ways and adjust ourselves to the natural state of being close to no joy and no worries, for example, putting ourselves in the nature. I often advise people who are upset or in a bad mood to "give yourself some time in nature". On days off, you can go for a walk in the forest. In Japan, there is a term "forest bathing". In fact, bathing in the forest is very good for the body. And I think when we turn our eyes to nature, our hearts become lighter. Nature is always at work. In spring, when the warm wind blows, the buds begin to bloom; And the smell of flowers will attract a lot of bugs and birds. These are the things that happen naturally. And in autumn, the flowers will fade and the trees will wither. Zen has always believed that the truth of biology is hidden in such a simple operation. Being in nature, we will realize that we human beings are also a member of nature. Feel the nature, and be sure to go as far as possible.
You can see nature at work in the parks you pass every day. When spring comes, the flowers will bloom somewhere in the park. When you see the flowers, you may think, "This is the same flower that blooms every year!" In fact, this year's flowers and last year's flowers, not the same. Because last year's flowers, already withered. Knowing this, you can feel the power of nature to make plants produce new flowers every year. If you've been working at a company all year, you may be under the illusion that you're living the same life every day. You may feel like you were doing the same job last year at this time, or you may feel like you're doing yesterday's work every day, or living yesterday's life every day. I think there are a lot of people who have already realized that living in a rut is a terrible thing. Even if you feel that way, you're not the same person you were last year. Even if you are doing the same work, this year's work will be different from last year's work. In fact, we never do the same work over and over again. We change every day, and the person we were yesterday cannot be the same as the person we are today. In the book of the Abbot, "The water of the deceased river is flowing continuously, but the water is not the original shape", is a good explanation. We can only really feel this when we are in nature.
