Kasuga Wakamiya On Festival appears at the Expo! [DAY1 Opening Event]

Tuesday, May 27th, 2025, 13:15-15:00

Kasuga Taisha Shrine is one of the world heritage sites "cultural assets of ancient capital Nara." The Kasuga Wakamiya On Festival is one of Japan's most traditional events, which have been held since the late Heian period in 1136. It is a magnificent festival where approximately 50 horses and over 1,000 people paraded around, and offerings such as kagura, sargaku, and bushama are held.

At this Expo venue, we will recreate solemn ritual performances such as the Daimyo procession, the shrine's legendary kagura, Sarugaku, and Buraku, praying for peace for people around the world, and spreading the depth and beauty of Nara's culture.

Main performance "FUTURE Noh STAGE" held

All day (DAY 1-3) 7:00-7:30

Nara is the birthplace of Noh. Many Noh stages remain today, and their traditions are alive and well. This event will feature Fujino Mai, a new era of Noh, by "tradition, technology, and world-renowned artists." This unique modern Noh combines the latest stage production and technology, and demonstrates the evolution of Japanese culture towards the world and inheritance to the future.

While protecting the essence of dance, we make full use of stage lighting, video and sound production. It offers a new fusion of art and culture.
