Who We Are
Nvak Collective is a next-generation record label and artist advocacy collective that fully embraces web3 to uplift creators. We believe that the operating system of the music industry is broken, and our mission is to make the music industry more equitable, profitable, and diverse. Our small team has already discovered talent from remote regions around the globe and launched them to billions of streams and hundreds of thousands of fans, all while providing artist-friendly deals and artist care.
Purpose
In partnership with Annika Rose, Nvak Collective just released the “Bruises” Music Video Game - a unique blend of gaming, music, Unreal Engine 5, and creator storytelling that attempts to re-examine the relationship between artist and fan. Over the course of the last week, thousands of users played the game, 2,500 NFTickets to the Listening Room minted out in three days, and we heard valuable feedback from the community on what they enjoyed and what they would like to see next. In this post, we’ll dive into our key takeaways, feedback, and what’s to come for Nvak Collective’s Music Video Games.
The “Bruises” Music Video Game
With the “Bruises” Music Video Game being Nvak Collective’s MVP, our goal was to keep it simple and playable, yet captivating enough to encourage fans to return and deepen their connection with Annika Rose. The game was designed with accessibility in mind for both "web2" and "web3" fans. Most of the game can be played through a web browser and email address at bruises.nvakcollective.xyz, while the more exclusive Listening Room requires a free nfticket for entry. Beginning Tuesday May 30th, players could mint up to 5 NFTickets to enter the room, where they found Annika’s latest single “Dad”, the token-gated “Dad” music NFT mint link, a “wishing lamp” curated by Donavan Brown, and even the option to change the lighting + colors of their environment.
Since its release, players have spent an average of ten minutes per session in-game, almost three times the length of the "Bruises" track. We gathered qualitative feedback from users through various channels such as Telegram, Discord, Twitter DM, and phone calls to understand their experiences, what resonated with them, and how we can further improve upon our music video games for future updates.
Roadmap
As posted on our Mirror profile prior to the game launch, our immediate roadmap for Nvak Collective’s Music Video Games had featured the following goals:Â
Incorporate Spatial AudioÂ
Allow users to travel back and forth between game levels
Include Spotify SDK to drive traditional streamingÂ
Utilize Cub3’s Proof of Behavior protocol to track fan status and unlock unique rewardsÂ
Enable multi-player gaming
Build in-game collaborations with other web3 communitiesÂ
Create new Music Video Games for additional artists
And thanks to the community of players and ticket holders who provided their thoughts and suggestions, we’ve also added the following updates to our music video game roadmap:
Weekly Music Video Game quests with rewards for playersÂ
Opportunities for mints across other chains
Incorporating fully explorable game levels (ie. players do not have to remain on direct pathways)
Including the full track as an option to play through the game in addition to uniquely-mixed audio stems
Allowing users to remix stems in-gameÂ
Building VR/AR Capabilities
Adding to these updates, Apple's Vision Pro announcement presents a significant opportunity to enhance Nvak’s digital experiences, transforming them into highly immersive and interactive environments within the span of a year. Community members expressed excitement about the potential impact of this technology for our own games, a sentiment shared by Nvak Collective. With this in mind, you’ll notice we’ve incorporated building VR/AR capabilities into our roadmap as well.
As a team, we see immersive fan experiences as the future of music, artist storytelling, and artist-to-fan relationships, and we can’t wait to see how advancements in tech continue to transform the music industry for years to come.
Conclusion
Thank you to each and every person who took the time to play the game, support Nvak & Annika Rose, and offer their suggestions for where to innovate our music video games for the future. Together, we can continue pushing the boundaries of what it means to blend art and technology into a meaningful experience that facilitates deeper relationships between artists and fans.Â
