On March 3, Beijing time, Chelsea boss Roman Abramovich announced his decision to sell Chelsea through Chelsea’s official website.
The full text of Abu’s announcement is as follows:
I want to talk about the media speculation about my ownership of Chelsea Football Club in the past few days. As I said before, I always make decisions based on the best interests of the club. Therefore, in the current situation, I have made the decision to sell the club because I believe it is in the best interests of the club, fans, employees, club sponsors and partners.
The sale of the club will not be completed quickly, but due process will be followed. I won’t ask for repayment of any loan. For me, it has nothing to do with business or money. It’s a pure passion for the game and the club. In addition, I have instructed my team to set up a charitable foundation and all the net proceeds from the sale will be donated. The foundation will benefit all victims of the war in Ukraine. This includes providing critical funding for the immediate and immediate needs of victims and supporting long-term recovery efforts.
Please know that this is a very difficult decision and it is painful for me to separate from the club in this way. However, I believe it is in the best interests of the club.
I hope I can visit Stamford Bridge for the last time and say goodbye to you personally. Being a member of Chelsea Football Club is an honor of my life. I am proud of all our achievements together. Chelsea and the fans will always be in my heart.
thank you
Abu
