At the just concluded Euler Developer Conference 2022 (openeuler Developer Day), Euler’s first full scene long-cycle version of digital infrastructure openeuler 22.03 lts was officially released. This is the first community co construction version after Euler’s donation. 773 contributors, 100 manufacturers and users from the community participated in the version development, adding 23 million lines of code. This version adopts the unified Linux kernel 5.10 kernel and supports server, cloud computing, edge computing, embedded and other application scenarios.

Zhong Xin, CTO of Unicom cloud, was invited to attend the conference and delivered a keynote speech on “openeler + cuinux building a new generation of infrastructure of Unicom cloud”. In his speech, he said that China Unicom cloud has always adhered to the technical route of the combination of open source and business to develop the technical system of cloud computing infrastructure, and introduced the cooperation process between China Unicom and Euler and the achievements of joint innovation.

Unicom cloud went deep into the transformation of infrastructure components, cooperated with openeuler to optimize the operating system kernel, strengthened the integration with heterogeneous and hardware computing capabilities, and integrated seven scene innovations based on virtualization and cloud native dual engine technology, including IOT perception cloud, digital storage cloud, intelligent video cloud, smart chain collaboration cloud, 5g edge cloud, independent innovation cloud and hybrid cloud, so as to give full play to the comprehensive advantages of Unicom cloud’s “cloud edge end network management industry”, Promote the optimization and upgrading of digitalization in various fields and accelerate the digitalization transformation of government and enterprise customers in an all-round way.

In July 2020, China Unicom woyun joined the openeuler community and became the first maintainer and contributor of openstack sig. It deeply participated in the open source contribution of openeuler community and the daily operation of SIG group, and led the transplantation of openstack version V to openeuler version 21.03, so that openeuler can initially realize the cloud base. Subsequently, he continued to participate in the adaptation of openstack in openeuler operating system, and successively transplanted R, W, t and other versions to openeuler 20.03 LTS, openeuler 21.09 and other versions. China Unicom also actively participated in the contribution of openeuler 22.03 lts version and completed the adaptation of openeuler to support multiple versions of openstack.

On openeuler summit 2021, China Unicom launched the first independently developed and designed operating system - cuinux data center Euler version. This is an important milestone for China Unicom to move forward in the field of core technology, bring a new upgrade to the infrastructure of China Unicom cloud, and provide a reliable foundation for China Unicom cloud from the operating environment.

With the release of the new version of Euler community, cuinux supports heterogeneous and diverse computing platforms in combination with openeuler 22.03 LTS, with the help of Linux kernel 5.10 kernel capability, and fully combines China Unicom’s lightweight virtualization, high-performance network, security container and other technologies to provide stable support for China Unicom’s multi-level technical architecture such as cloud base, cloud native and edge sites. In the future, this version will be deployed in the whole scenario of Unicom cloud.

Cuinux has been optimized in six directions:

1. Cuinux combines with openeuler and relies on the kernel capability of Linux kernel 5.10, with kernel hot upgrade technology;
2. 2. It integrates lightweight virtualization components, which improves the startup speed by 10 times compared with traditional virtualization and greatly reduces resource consumption;
3. 3. Various encryption measures provide a stable guarantee for the security protection of data and operation environment;
4. 4. Support intelligent kernel parameter tuning, which can better support large concurrent network and high IO storage;
5. 5. Integrate deployment tools and monitoring components to achieve efficient operation and maintenance;
6. 6. Widely adapt and compatible with domestic software and hardware ecology to escort the operation of Xinchuang products;
7. At present, several customized versions have been provided for server, edge computing, cloud infrastructure and other scenarios. In the future, China Unicom will continue to develop more cuinux distributions to cover a wider range of application scenarios.

At the end of the speech, Zhong Xin said: “China Unicom adheres to the development path of open cooperation, strengthens industrial ecological cooperation with upstream supply chain manufacturers, business application manufacturers and customers, opens up new technology fields with openeuler and other open source communities, and actively promotes the positive cycle of open source + business.”

As a member of the Council of Euler community, China Unicom will continue to give full play to its ability in the field of cloud infrastructure, invest in the work of openeuler cloud ecology, increase its contribution to innovation and R & D, and focus on container deployment support, cloud scene smooth upgrade, edge computing and other aspects. More developers and enterprises are expected to participate in the openeuler community and build an open source operating system for digital infrastructure.
