This week I am interviewing Tania Viegas, who has previously created a bespoke metaverse outfit for me! The process of working with her was smooth-sailing and very inspiring. As she is one of the first web3 made-to-order designers, this interview delves deeper into her journey as a designer in this space and into her made-to-order design process.

It’s a rather new thing for me to do as I’m so used to creating my own ideas, but it allows me to grow as a designer! Since it’s a different way of approaching design, you have to have good communication with the client. It’s also a fun process because you learn about the other person’s creative process and thoughts behind the project. If you resonate with that, you will try your best to represent the design features and details to capture the attention of buyers and collectors.
I love collaborating with the wonderful creatives we have in the GDN community! Sometimes I look back and am truly amazed by the amount of trust we have in each other while doing various collaborations without even knowing each other in person. Before this community I had a “fashion school” mentality which in my opinion makes it difficult to have trust in another person who’s literally on the other side of the planet! I feel so grateful to have been discovered by this community. With every collaboration I learn so much and grow not just as a designer but as a person.
The best advice someone once told me, which we can apply to everything we do in life is never lose the student mentality!
Sometimes we hear something familiar and think ‘ok I already know this’ and then we don’t pay attention to it, but in this case we may lose a chance to learn more or share knowledge with someone else. So remember to keep an open mind and always keep yourself in the student mindset - you will grow faster than you think.
I hope and believe that in the future I will be able to fully sustain myself doing web3 projects. So essentially embracing that way of working 100% without thinking I need an IRL job to support my lifestyle! I am currently working on it 💪🏻😁
