The Berlin Music Video Awards (BMVA) is excited to present its 12th edition, happening from the 12th to the 14th of June 2024, at the iconic Club Gretchen in Berlin. This international festival celebrates the creativity and talent behind music video production, drawing in a wide range of established and emerging artists from across the globe.
The BMVA has a proud tradition of spotlighting emerging artists before they hit the mainstream and commends itself for the interesting competition between established and emerging artists, filmmakers, and production companies it has created.

For me, BMVA is all about originality, inclusivity, diversity, creative self-expression, artistic collaboration, promoting and enriching cultural exchange, and…
..now, as a Web3Gaia artist I also add sustainability, which is crucial for our well-being and Mother Gaia. By emphasizing these values, the BMVA not only promotes environmental responsibility, artistic collaboration, and cultural exchange but also contributes positively to broader social and environmental goals — United Nations Goals.
Our holistic approach is essential in today’s world that we all create. With the same effort, we can create more & in a sustainable way.
The Berlin Music Video Awards (BMVA) is associated with the motto ‘International, independent, and unleashed’, gathering artists from around the world with a focus on artistic collaboration and the promotion of cultural exchange.
Current times show us that we can all focus on freedom and sustainability which is priceless.
WHAT IS YOUR TAKE ON THAT, AVIEL? BERLIN MUSIC VIDEO AWARDS (BMVA)
I can say that music and art have always connected people. Perhaps, by having international events and platforms, we create bridges and common languages between cultures. That’s a basic step if you want to work together and achieve common global goals.
/SUSTAINABILITY/ AGNIESZKA, BRAVE UNICORNS (WEB3GAIA)
The attendance among the nominees has reached an outstanding quota this year, and nominated music videos will be judged across 14 categories. How can AI support global sustainability patterns, and how do you, as the producer of BMVA and a wayshower for others, envision this?
AVIEL, BERLIN MUSIC VIDEO AWARDS (BMVA):
While others may fear the future of AI, I believe we should master it and learn to work with it. At the beginning of this month, the first full-length “text to video” official music video was released and that was the start of a race in our field. Millions of artists from poor countries around the world will finally have access to the top-tier arena. As someone who grew up in a poor family, I am very sensitive to the topic of accessibility to means. Other than that, the film industry is one of the most polluting industries in terms of flights and transportation, AI will eliminate the need to travel for shootings in far locations or the production of more unnecessary tools in the film industry.
AGNIESZKA, BRAVE UNICORNS (WEB3GAIA)
I believe we need to understand what it means for us to “master AI” in all our activities, because it can support us in living and creating a sustainable lifestyle, but it can also potentially generate a significant amount of data fast. And it is good to know that, be one step ahead, and design for the planet from day one.
I deeply resonate with the value of inclusivity and being resourceful for all. That’s why I create free resources: blogs and a library of articles in the form of eBooks or NFTs in the spirit of the education of Ascended Master Jesus free for all (not alpha groups, or paying fees for resources that generate unbalance in society), and I discuss topics about new cutting-edge technologies such as blockchain, the metaverse, NFTs, Web3, as well as fundamentals like sustainability, ethics, and design. I also speak about decentralization and the creator economy. These efforts provide value to creators, communities, and brands alike.
This leads to the bold conclusion that many of our challenges stem from the boomer mindset, their structures, organizations, activities, and values.
We are millennials and Gen Z. We create for next-gen — Alpha, and our value system is opposite to Bommer’s mindset. We enjoy a freedom lifestyle, sustainability & conscious brands that support giving back to the planet, true and authentic self-expression, creativity, inclusivity, diversity, and originality.
Now, we can grasp these issues and strive to solve the problems of tech giants, unsustainable big brands, the film and music industry, and the lack of education. Inclusivity and new innovative business models that support a sustainable, free lifestyle are key to this transformation.

What are your thoughts on AI in video clips? Do you perceive any ethical issues or challenges?
AVIEL, BERLIN MUSIC VIDEO AWARDS (BMVA):
AI in music videos, until this point was kind of odd, just like 3D videos at the beginning of the 90s, it looked bad but it sparked curiosity. This year we have 5 videos that include AI participating in the festival, most of them made it to the Best Experimental category. None of them were made with “Text to Video” but from the next edition, we will start a new category for AI music videos because the internet is going to be flooded with these this year and we are sure that we will find some gems right there.
AI is a very big field and just like every tool, it can be used ethically or unethically. Of course, none of us would want to find out that they are staring at a new movie without their consent but with the right laws in place, it can be limited. When a person is using makeup, you can see it as an unethical misleading practice as well but you can also at the same time see it as art.
/BMVA 2024 LEVEL OF SUBMISSIONS — WHAT IS IN STORE FOR US ON THE EVENT?/ AGNIESZKA, BRAVE UNICORNS (WEB3GAIA)
This marks the 12th edition of BMVA. How do you assess the level of creativity this year, and which categories have pleasantly surprised you?
AVIEL, BERLIN MUSIC VIDEO AWARDS (BMVA):
It’s a good question, I strongly believe that the level of creativity is not something that is changing. The level of cinema is moving forward thanks to many aspects but not thanks to more creativity. camera technology can get better, drones can get better, and VFX can get better but the creativity level in society is not changing so fast. That said, you can say that some countries encourage creativity in their culture more than others. For example, 1 out of 5 French videos that were submitted this year got selected but only 1 out of 20 German videos that were submitted got accepted. Originality is seen as a more precious value in some societies.

What new categories do you anticipate will emerge in the coming year or years, and what lies on the horizon for the music industry?
AVIEL, BERLIN MUSIC VIDEO AWARDS (BMVA):
When Virtual Reality technology took off a few years ago, many people in our network tried to suggest I start a new category for VR videos. I rejected this idea because I simply find VR glasses to be too clumsy or uncomfortable. In my opinion, in its current common form, it can’t grow so fast. I do bet on AI and therefore we will start this year with a new category for AI videos. I am very excited about it, what we are going to see will make the VFX of today appear as old-fashioned. The ones who will master the future videos will be the multidisciplinary creators who understand how to merge good cinematography, VFX, art direction, and other visual fields with AI.
/POLISH MUSIC VIDEOS STYLE, EU & GLOBAL IN 2024/ AGNIESZKA, BRAVE UNICORNS (WEB3GAIA)
Curious about your take on Polish music videos and style this year. I find it fascinating to contrast with the distinct styles and cultural influences, trends from Germany, France, Ukraine, the US, and beyond. How do you perceive the differences in artistic expression across this diverse and rich cultural heritage?
AVIEL, BERLIN MUSIC VIDEO AWARDS (BMVA):
This year, we have only 2 Polish videos nominated, in previous years we had more. Last year, we also had Brodka in our jury panel, she is a great artist, who won our award for “Best Art Director” and we are happy to discover more.
I personally love the appreciation for art that you have in Polish culture and am happy to get more videos from Poland in the future.
There is a different status for artists across cultures, sadly, in some cultures, an artist is a financial burden to the family while in others it is seen as a more worthy status or a privilege/pride for the family or for the community that they represent.
/BMVA PROGRAM FOR NOW/
The program offers multiple activities, workshops, and celebrations throughout the festival. Leading the ‘AI Conference’ is industry expert Yonatan Dor, who will delve into the convergence of artificial intelligence and music videos. Festival founder Aviel Silook has hinted at a groundbreaking trend: the surge of AI-created submissions. With a growing number of these innovative videos, Silook suggests that a dedicated category for AI videos might be introduced by 2025. Currently, AI videos are making waves in the Best Experimental category, showcasing captivating works such as “Chien Méchant — Etoiles Filantes” (Temple caché), “RAH Band — Clouds Across The Moon” (by the Dor Brothers), and “Clutchill — Kanino” (by Victor G. Planelles and David M. Romero).
