Abstract

In this article, I will compare what has changed before and after the advent of Music NFT from the point of view of how to listen to songs. I have chosen spinamp to introduce the web3 music player.

Listening Method

In my growing up process, I have experienced the vinyl, tape and CD playing era of web0, the iPod listening era of web1, and the streaming Spotify era of web2.

We can't deny the value of these things, because they do have importance in different times. It's just that with the arrival of web3, things will take some new turns.

There are currently many music players in web3, the ones I'm familiar with are spinamp, Future Tape and Ooh La La.

Recent Status of Web3 Player

This article takes spinamp as an example of the current state of the web3 music player.

In recent weeks, more and more artists are listening to songs and creating song lists on spinamp.

Mija created three types of song lists on spinamp and said Yes.

Grady's friend wanted him to upload the song to Spotify.

None of the three albums Grady has produced in the past year have had a single song released on Spotify.

Reo Cragun's music with his label LNRZ occupies the top three spots in spinamp's trending rankings. It is worth mentioning that the fourth place in this picture is a song by me and Mija.

Recently I've been using spinamp more often than Spotify, and it's a cool experience to listen to web3 music while you're in the car or running.

Active Access to Information

In spinamp, you can listen most of the Music NFTs uploaded to the blockchain! You can listen good music and then choose whether to buy it or not. This way of getting Music NFT information is more in line with the decision to collect a certain Music NFT based on music preferences than focusing on soundxyz's "Upcoming Drops".

Now, we have blockchain technology, and because musicians get less revenue from "centralized" platforms, we want to solve this through the "decentralization" of blockchain. At this point, Music NFT has become a key storage medium for music, attracting more and more attention from artists.

Now we will see some interesting phenomena, many musicians first drop Music NFT, and then release new songs in Spotify. There are even a growing number of musicians who only drop Music NFT without releasing new songs on Spotify. When more and more artists drop only Music NFT without releasing on Spotify, it is possible that the development of Music NFT will be further enhanced and the whole music industry will be transformed.

In addition, Music NFT has many good attributes. It would be presented in a new way of collection presentation. It will also allow artists to gain a deep connection with fans who really support them, just like I wouldn't have thought before that I could drop a song with Mija. What's more, Music NFT is worldwide, it's not limited to a certain region, and this power of distribution may have the same effect as a world tour.
