We’re excited to announce a major community event: the ‘Dunkirk’ Emergency Asset Recovery Test. This is a public simulation of our emergency asset withdrawal feature before launching our mainnet later this year, allowing users to get back their funds from zkLink’s middleware anytime.
In the past few years, the crypto world has been plagued with rug-pulls, hacks, and security breaches leading to billions of dollars of losses.
To demonstrate our unbreakable security design and commitment to self-sovereignty of crypto assets, zkLink will deliberately shut down for three days, allowing users to recover their assets from either a hosted or self-hosted recovery node.
Asset balances will be rebuilt from all connected blockchains, and withdrawn back to users’ wallets, giving peace of mind that zkLink’s multi-chain trading layer is the easiest and safest in the crypto industry.
The ‘Dunkirk’ withdrawal test takes place over three days from May 11–13.

To participate in the Dunkirk test, you need to first join the campaign on Galxe, and then trade on the ZKEX.com testnet (one of zkLink’s ecosystem dApps).
Then, when zkLink is offline and Dunkirk is ‘live’, go to one of our node recovery partners (that runs our open source recovery app) and follow the instructions to get your balance back to your wallet.
And that’s it!
Your tokens will be transferred to your wallet once the ZK-Proof is verified on the destination L1.
With this evacuation simulation, you will see how zkLink is radically different from centralized exchanges: we never hold your assets. Instead, the smart contract locking your assets allows a ZK-Rollup to be ‘unrolled’ to give users back their assets with their wallet’s unique signature.
Even if zkLink goes down, anyone can self-host and install the recovery app to provide an escape tunnel for fund withdrawal.
Our open source withdrawal app has been released and can be downloaded from Github, enabling anyone to run a zkLink recovery program for asset withdrawal.
To achieve the goals set forth by the zkLink Dunkirk event, collaboration and industry-wide adoption are crucial. The zkLink team is actively engaging with other crypto projects, security companies, and media to promote the adoption of the Dunkirk test. By working together, industry stakeholders can ensure that DeFi platforms prioritize security and adopt best practices for self-custody and risk management.
