AGLD 2022 Roadmap

An active community has formed around AGLD since day one. We build on nights and weekends out of our full-time job voluntarily. Yeah, it’s slow but it’s coming along. We deeply appreciate the community and this roadmap has been the first post on what is happening and what is going to happen. The progress of AGLD for the past few months is impossible without the effort from @WillPapper, @Hill79025920, @garythung, @MHCGBIC, and other community members who contributed to the token economics proposal and Lootverse integration. We are now excited to share this 2022 roadmap with the AGLD community.

History

AGLD has come a long way since its launch. For the history of AGLD check out this thread by the creator Will: https://twitter.com/WillPapper/status/1484215805478797312?s=20&t=elYYs3axtkwDP8jh0kfL_w

Current situation:

  • AGIP-1 and AGIP-2 have passed. The community members are building them out.
  • AGIP-3 has been released for a while and we have gathered good community feedback. It will be open for voting on a snapshot after the staking function is released. This is to demonstrate to the community that the AGLD builders are actually pushing this forward rather than running votes after votes. Governance exhaustion is a real thing.

Community concern:

The community has expressed concerns over the past few months on:

  1. Little information transparency for the community, given very few vocal points beyond a few core members’ Twitter.
  2. The Loot ecosystem is moving forward and seems like AGLD has lagged behind in a rather awkward position. We are not the governance token of Loot. We are not a game and do not draw direct benefits from any specific games coming out of Loot.
  3. AGLD has no liquidity on DEXes, only CEXes, as there are no liquidity incentives, and the gas fee on Ethereum is unusable.

Roadmap

Here we present our 2022 roadmap to address the above concerns. Items are ranked in order of priorities to build out.

  1. Loot & mloot staking
  2. AGIP-3 snapshot vote
  3. Regular disclosure through mirror.xyz & official Twitter
  4. Front-end UI
  5. Collab with other Lootverse NFTs
  6. Liquidity incentives

Expanded Roadmap

Loot staking: A few talented developers have joined forces to bring out staking as a working product that brings real benefits to Loot & other NFTs in the Lootverse. Staking will be non-custodial as it brings more fair access and enables more utility for NFTs rather than custodial staking used widely across NFTs inside and outside the Lootverse. Initially staking will only be enabled on the smart contract level for Loot & mloot holders to interact via Etherscan or on the blockchain directly. Loot & mloot holders should signal that they hold the Loot in their wallet for the past week and will be entitled to the AGLD staking reward for the past week. The amount per bag is dependent on the total available AGLD reward as well as the amount of bags signaling for that week.

AGIP-3: The proposal on bonding & AGLD utility has been discussed for a while and we have gathered a good amount of feedback from the community, mostly positive, and how innovative a breakthrough it is in the history of NFT. The snapshot vote will be held right after the staking is released.

Disclosure channels: We are looking to set up a mirror & Twitter account for regular disclosure of AGLD related information. Including development progress, thoughts on token economics & the Lootverse, as well as announcements including new partnerships in the future. The Twitter account is already established at https://twitter.com/GoldAdventure. If you are reading this, you should have found our mirror already.

Front-end UI: We have registered a new domain name to become the official AGLD website. When launched, it will be used as the front-end that the average joe holding Loot can stake without fuzzing with Etherscan. It will then be used as an access point for future functionalities of AGLD as well as one of the primary information distribution channels.

Liquidity Incentives: We are looking to provide liquidity incentives for AGLD liquidity pairs across DEXes. For now, AGLD has decent liquidity on centralized exchanges. The community is actively exploring token economics magic to bootstrap liquidity in a decentralized way.

Why and how AGLD is an important missing piece for the Lootverse.

To further reinstate why we are voluntarily building AGLD and why it’s important, we would like to elaborate more on the vision, mission, and value proposition of AGLD below.

The Lootverse has been a beautiful experimental field on social collaboration and token economics. It’s the first NFT that’s minted with no intended utility or purpose. It’s the first NFT that gets airdropped a token, again, with no intended utility or purpose. Everything effectively comes down to what the owners want to build upon. After all, it’s whatever you can imagine. This brings unlimited potential as well as little utility to get started with. However, this is not a new problem for crypto or NFT at all. Utility has always been a problem for NFTs. The effort to acquire use cases for a specific series of NFT has been solely the responsibility of the project team for a long time. It is until the emergence of Loot that we realize there is no better starting point to address this problem than here. Loot was born with nothing but unlimited imagination from the community. And no other toolkit has been in a better position to address this problem than $AGLD. Initially regarded as the governance token of Loot, the Adventure Gold airdrop is groundbreaking and has driven controversy both within and outside the Lootverse. However, aligning the incentive of token holders and NFT holders is not as natural as it seems to be, especially given that Loot and AGLD are two of the most decentralized projects out there, with a very diverse set of stakeholders as well as contributors. Against all odds, the AGLD community has come together and collectively drawn out a roadmap that aims to provide the most innovative example. If proven to be effective, this can be a crucial milestone in the NFT space.

Adventure Gold has the vision to become a beautiful solution that incentivizes the utility of Loot and ultimately the Lootverse. We decided to try something no one else has done before: universal basic income (UBI) for NFTs. For those who are unfamiliar, universal basic income (UBI) is a sociopolitical financial transfer policy proposal in which all citizens of a given population regularly receive a legally stipulated and equal financial grant paid by the government without a means test. It has been proven effective in a number of examples that UBI has achieved beyond normal welfare schemes such as the unemployment benefits, especially in underdeveloped demographics.

Non-custodial staking is the closest and most reasonable to implement for Loot’s circumstances. Loot users need to signal that they hold By allowing each Loot to entitle to a revenue stream if the holder chooses to, we expect greater adoption for both Loot & AGLD. People in Venezuela previously earned bolívar (the official currency of Venezuela) as their income. Imagine one day if the Venezuelan government decided to implement a UBI that pays out Bitcoin. Soon Bitcoin will be adopted in all kinds of use cases, including storage of wealth, means of payment as well as other financial use cases such as collateral for loans, or used in games such as sports bets, casino games (if it existed), etc. This will also support the beneficiaries of UBI in a lot of the use cases. They will have more expenditure on items including but not limited to personal developments (nutritions, education), recreational activities, even innovations (funding scientific & business research) & arts. We expect the UBI will bring additional uses cases, both expected and unexpected, for AGLD as well as Loot.

Once the UBI scheme gets going, AGLD will turn into a giant attention attraction portal for all the Loot holders. In order to be entitled to this UBI, they need to interact with the smart contract or visit the upcoming AGLD official website. This creates a gathering of the Loot community and provides a crucial opportunity to incentivize the utility of Loot. Dapps and games that support Loot will find themselves looking at the most active community members coming back to the Lootverse on a regular basis. This provides huge potential for user engagement magics that AGLD can collaborate with other projects in the Lootverse.

This will align with the incentives of AGLD and the Lootverse. A higher yield from AGLD means higher income for Loot. A higher income will incentivize higher expenditure from those Loot. Higher expenditure makes the Lootverse become a more active economic system. This will bring more value to the dapps & projects to the Loot verse and kick in a flywheel that feeds back to the value to Loot via providing more utility. Ultimately, as explained in AGIP-3, the bonding mechanism will feed value back to AGLD and maintain the high yield from AGLD.

The Lootverse needs YOU

If you find the Lootverse exciting and would like to contribute to building out one of the most innovative and ground-breaking NFT economics systems, the AGLD community always welcomes you to join. We need feedback on product & token economy design. We need collaboration from Lootverse projects. We need help to build out what we have planned. More builders joining means that the flywheel can be built up sooner and we can accelerate the growth of the Lootverse. Feel free to join the discord group if you have any suggestions & feedback.
