Some fast notes on consumer crypto apps

Over the past two years, I have shown various social applications and tokens to friends who are not involved in cryptography (and of course, I am actively involved in this myself). Here are some thoughts I want to record based on this experience.

Users love earning rewards, but it needs to be simple and fun. The primary focus should be on easy registration and content publishing. They dont want to deal with wallets and the concept of NFTs; they want to create and consume content and have the opportunity to receive fair compensation for significant contributions to the success of the network/app.

A social app should have an easily accessible token (purchasable with a debit card) with a core social function.

  • purchase app feature extensions

  • purchase content

  • curate content

  • participate in the management and development of the application, receiving a share of the company's revenue.

If youre regular user, just use this as an internal currency. If you accumulate enough by frequently using the app or creating engaging content, try participating in curation or mgmt. An interesting example from Web2 is VK with their "votes," which essentially function as tokens but dont operate on the blockchain.

By the way, I think that a more successful design model might be Telegram or Tlon rather than Twitter, because they offer a better balance of privacy and publicity.
