why web3 - my music industry adventures
since a boy, The Peanut Butter Prince was favored by industry lords far and wide.
he made his name in the realm's dungeons, winning the hearts of crowds alongside thestand4rd, his vagabond squad of shib army mercenaries.
one day, a cabal of regional lords conspired to use him as their musical gladiator. while they offered the young artist among the land's highest honors for spectator combat, his creativity was unbounded by the friezes and columns of the coliseum. he eventually escaped the bonds of conscription and founded a Kingdom of his own.
this is the story of the Prince ascending to King, returning to his northern homeland, Minneapolis, and now venturing into the web3 wilderness.
one day, the Prince met King Kyariga, scam artist and puller of exotic rugs, and ended up flipping 10 stacks to half a mil on Shiba Inu. he used the funds to buy out his debtors and to begin construction on the empire expanding all around you.
what happens in the metaverse reverberates throughout meatspace. my nonprofit, Yebo Life, supports those who do good throughout Minneapolis. partial proceeds from the ME-taverse will go towards Yebo Life and an irl festival for revitalizing Minneapolis by its first artist to shake up the industry since the original Prince ;).
'Yebo' means yes in Zulu and slang throughout Africa. my parents both hail from African nations, and the name itself reflects his belief in optimism and positive-sum goals.
Yebo is the spiritual temple of the Kingdom.
"Basically all forces of power I’ve been involved in from management to labels are motivated to keep you ignorant enough about business, but worth it just enough so you keep creating for them. It’s a lot easier and faster to make the most $ off someone's back the more ignorant they are in the traditional industry. I’d say I’ve gotten got in every way possible, from bad deals, stolen ideas, not paid after a sold out tour, etc. But all of that taught me so much about business. I took some of my $ invested in real estate and did some good flips w/ my manager Jay, bought myself outta bad deals and learned how to fund my lifestyle and career completely outside of the traditional industry. Through real estate development and investing, I’m also able to give and hire POC through my businesses and my non profit. The meme coins and Wall Street Bets stocks don’t hurt either. In our label, Mogul Sound Music, we want our artists to be as knowledgeable as possible about business and investing because it helps all of us get sharper. The more our artists know, the more they succeed, and the more responsibility they put on themselves to be great."

web3 is all about putting power back in the hands of creators. the twin ideals of autonomy and artistic freedom inspired the ME-taverse and my partnership with future modern and others who share this vision was instrumental in laying the foundation for the Kingdom.
the irl festival will be both a celebration of our collective achievements in and out of the ME-taverse and a revival of the music scene in Minneapolis. Additionally, there will be a metaverse component so anyone anywhere can attend virtually.
