Arbitrum recent updates

Arbitrum recently announced Nova and also has planned to implement its major upgrade, called Nitro, in the coming days. To clear up the confusion let’s briefly discuss what Nova and Nitro are.

Nitro

The Nitro upgrade, going live tomorrow, is aimed to be a better version of the current Arbitrum network.

One of the major problems with Arbitrum was its high gas fees, especially during the Odyssey load. Nitro upgrade will decrease the gas fees through Advanced Call Data Compression. Nitro will also bring additional L1 compatibility for developers. I’ll leave the technical explanations for the technical guys.

Nova

Arbitrum Nova, launched earlier this month, is a new chain intended for social and gaming applications that require very low fees. Nova is built using Arbitrum’s AnyTrust Technology and brings the following advantages: 

• Ultra-low transaction costs
• Fast transactions with rapid block times
• Enabling new blockchain primitives

There are some NFT collections on the Stratos Nova marketplace. These collections might not be from real projects, so I don’t recommend buying any. If you want to have transactions on this network, you mint a free NFT.

You will only need to pay gas fees, so you may use the following bridges to transfer some ETH.
