We are excited to announce that we have chosen to deploy Angel Battles 2 on the Polygon network. We watched several scaling solutions develop over the last few years and carefully considered where the best place to deploy Angel Battles 2 would be. It was a difficult decision where it seemed like new front runners were constantly emerging. We considered solutions under the following criteria.
Security – While we don’t need the full security of Ethereum, a more secure scaling solution is better.
Availability – Zk Rollups are promising, especially after proto-danksharding is implemented, but we need something available today.
Full EVM Compatibility – Angel Battles 2 is a complex game – we need something more than for instance a rollup which only allows NFT trading. We need a chain that allows our users to permissionlessly deploy battle mountains.
Infrastructure – While talking to our players and the larger Ethereum community, users constantly prioritized access to key infrastructure like Uniswap and Opensea. We also wanted a place where Tally.xyz was deployed for managing DAO proposals.
Ramps – We wanted a place where it was easy for a large amount of the world’s population to purchase the platform’s native token for gas. We also wanted a place that had wide bridge support from other networks.
Stable Native Token – We prefer a place where the native (gas) token is stable so card prices won’t fluctuate.
Low Gas Fees – Lower gas fees will enable more players to play more frequently with the convenience of not worrying about scheduling their playing.
Long Term Stability – We want a scaling solution that will be around for decades.
Community Ethos – We wanted a place aligned with the beliefs of Ethereum.
Technical Ability – We need a chain that actually works, has no downtime, good RPC endpoints, etc.
Gitcoin Matching - In order to donate all sales to Gitcoin, we need a chain where they have deployed their multi-sig.
While there were no scaling solutions that checked all the boxes, Polygon most closely aligns with the needs and wants of our users. There is a reason that several major brands are launching projects on Polygon.
We are excited to reach the next milestone towards getting Angel Battles 2 ready for the public.
