A No Code Journey

Over the past two months, I had the privilege of being part of the Cohort #6 of DevRel Uni. I applied after a recommendation by a great friend, Moni Talan. She was part of the cohort #5 and described it as an amazing experience. Now, I can confirm that sentiment. DevRelUni was something completely different from what I expected. It’s not a coding bootcamp (as I initially thought) but a platform that encourages you to showcase your skills and let go of impostor syndrome. It pushes you to let the world see your face and hear your voice.

I’m always have been both introvert and extrovert. While I enjoy engaging with people, I’ve never liked taking selfies or recording videos to share my thoughts. DevRelUni showed me that mindset was wrong. It helped me realize that a lot of great things can happen when I start sharing the knowledge I have. During the various sessions, I found myself engaged with the stories shared by the different hosts. Their different backgrounds converged in the DevRel space, where they empower and teach technical skills to others. Listening to their journeys, I recognized a part of myself in them. A part that I want to explore more.

During the cohort, I achieved five of the six main tasks, which was a milestone in itself. On top of that, I won a prize during the ETHGlobal hackathon, an experience that motivated me to keep developing my technical and communication skills. My favorite piece of content was the video I created about MEV and how users can protect themselves from it.

One of my favorite aspects of this journey was learning more about Stylus and interacting with various apps in the ecosystem. Stackly was my favorite because their UX/UI is simply awesome. I spent several hours studying different DevRels like Nader, Sophia, Buzea, Eda, Viet and other cracks in the ecosystem. My goal was to understand how they get to their positions and one lesson stood out: quick iteration is essential to achieve meaningful progress.

On the technical side, I’ve been learning JavaScript the past few months and recently started Patrick Collins’ Solidity course. I can’t be more excited to begin the next year combining my new skills and joining a lot of hackathons and applying what I’ve learned.
