2021 was a pivotal year for crypto. DAOs and social tokens were exploding in popularity, fueling the rapid growth of vibrant online communities. ConstitutionDAO, a decentralised community, raised 47 Million USD to try to buy one of the original copies of the United States Constitution. Other leading DAOs such as FWB, Bankless, Uniswap, PleasrDAO, BAYC, Olympus, Seed Club, ENS were also making waves.
It was in this electrifying environment that I joined Coinvise, a visionary startup with a bold mission: becoming the essential toolkit for crypto communities. Coinvise recognized the transformative potential of social tokens to empower these groups, and I was eager to contribute to shaping this future.
As the first designer on board, I had the exciting challenge of crafting Coinvise's visual identity. To ensure it resonated perfectly, I embarked on a deep dive into the brand's DNA. This involved:
Unveiling the Brand Core: We meticulously dissected Coinvise's purpose, target audience, and desired brand image. Together, we explored the keywords that best captured its essence and identified those to avoid.
Competitive Landscape Analysis: We conducted a thorough analysis of the competitive landscape to understand Coinvise's unique position within the crypto space.
Bringing the Brand to Life: Coinvise wasn't just a company, it was a personality waiting to be discovered. Through creative exercises, we imagined Coinvise as a person – its age, goals, music taste, and even favorite shows!
By delving into these questions, I gained a comprehensive understanding of Coinvise's core values and aspirations. This foundation proved instrumental in shaping a powerful visual identity that perfectly captured the brand's essence.
In collaboration with the founder Jenil, we established three key pillars for Coinvise's brand identity:
Simplicity: The logo should be simple, clean and straightforward
Visual Impact: The logo should be visually strong
Meaningful Connection: A brand identity that reflects Coinvise's purpose and values, fostering a connection with the community builders
After exploring various design options, we landed on a powerful brand element: the portal. This wasn't just a shape; it was an invitation. The portal beckons users to enter a new world – a world brimming with crypto-enabled communities and the exciting potential of social tokens.
When I joined Coinvise, the user experience lacked a central hub – there was just an intro header followed by a quest feed and other tools. It was clear we needed a strong first impression.
Leveraging the newly developed brand personality, I started working on the creation of a landing page that clearly communicated Coinvise's purpose. This landing page served as the gateway to the Coinvise experience. It concisely explained the value proposition and enticed users to explore further with a compelling "Explore" button. This button led them to a comprehensive dashboard showcasing the full suite of Coinvise's product offerings.
Coinvise has always been at the forefront of innovation within the crypto community. Initially envisioned as a comprehensive suite of community tools, Coinvise strategically pivoted to become a leading platform for rewards tooling. This shift reflects the ever-evolving needs of crypto communities, and the Coinvise landing page has continuously adapted to keep pace.
In 2021, Coinvise published a guide to help creators navigate the process of launching DAO tokens. To spread the word, I even created a short Twitter promo!
Over my three years at Coinvise, I had the privilege of designing a comprehensive suite of presentation decks. These decks, encompassing topics like Events, Creators, Memberships, Products, Funding, Partnerships, and even Coinvise Wrapped, played a crucial role in the company's growth.
Each deck represented a perfect marriage of data and visual design. They effectively communicated complex information with clarity and impact. Importantly, thanks to the trust placed in me by founder Jenil Thakker, I enjoyed complete creative freedom throughout the design process.
In 2022, I led the relaunch of Coinvise Learn, the company's educational platform. I spearheaded a complete overhaul, involving our design intern, Sneha in crafting a fresh interface and redesigned landing page. To further elevate the user experience, I also redesigned the Learn branding and visual system, ensuring a cohesive and engaging learning environment.
