ATX DAO is a Local DAO dedicated to making Austin the crypto capital of the world. We are leading the charge in the Local DAO movement - grassroots organizations, bound to a given town, city, or state, and dedicated to improving their community via blockchain technology.
ATX DAO works on three main initiatives
Uniting Austin's Web3 communities
Onboarding and educating businesses and artists about the crypto economy
Advising local and state governments on thoughtful crypto policy
Through our events and endless community work, we have become the center of gravity for the Austin blockchain scene. Co-founders have met through our network, several devs have found new homes, and a myriad of people have found our welcoming community an entry to Web3.
We have worked with several artists to bring their work on-chain and experiment with new ways of funding and supporting the art community. We have also developed close relationships with several businesses and helped them experiment with ways in which crypto can empower their businesses - from loyalty programs to payments, to gamification and beyond.
Lastly, we have worked extensively with city and state governments to push for legislative innovation without sacrificing pragmatism or legislative caution. We have become a center of excellence for Web3-related policy, and continue to support legislators and their offices on blockchain technology and policy. Our current policy initiative is to recognize DAOs as legal entities in the State of Texas. In 2022, we testified in front of the Texas Congress on DAO legislation and have continued to work to transform our recommendations into a bill for the next legislative session.
As we look ahead to 2023, we are excited to take our work across our three main pillars to the next level - all while remaining true to our core values of integrity, innovation, sustainability, transparency, and community. We plan to empower our initiatives accordingly:
Community: Building a dedicated working and gathering space for the DAO. This will be a space for builders, artists, and creators to connect and continue to foster innovation in our city. Alongside a dedicated working space, we want to start deeper technical education campaigns with some of our partners, to help incubate Web3 startups in the city.
Business Onboarding: Run an educational series for businesses to start using crypto in their business operations, and launch products alongside our partners.
Policy: Bring the Texas DAO bill to life and start evaluating our next policy endeavor, potentially stablecoin regulation or blue-sky laws in Texas.
Much to be excited about and look forward to!
