What We Talkin' Bout?

Attending ETHDenver 2023 was an inspiring experience for me. As someone curious about the potential of crypto, the conference opened my eyes to the true scope of what is possible.

This was my second time attending the event. So not my first rodeo around the Degens. Within 2 hours of checking into the event, I found myself deeply immersed in the world of crypto.

I spectated hundreds of developers collaborating on cutting-edge projects. It’s been 4 days, and I am still sifting through the notes from the dozen keynote speeches I observed.

Unlike my first time attending, this year’s event felt much more mature, and participants seemed to care less about hype and more about creating tangible change in the marketplace. The past 12 months have clearly forced operators in the space to be more mindful of the direction of their respective projects.

Watching your bags drop down -40% in value wasn’t any fun, of course. But I knew what it was once I downloaded metamask. This market is still nascent and will go through several changes in the coming years. It’s the name of the game for emerging tech.

What struck me most about ETHDenver was the sense of connectedness. Builders from Africa, Asia, the Americas, and all other corners of the world raving over ugly JPEGs will always fascinate me.

Despite coming from different backgrounds and working on diverse projects, everyone bonded by a shared passion for improving the crypto experience and a commitment to pushing its boundaries. This collaborative atmosphere left me feeling excited and motivated.

Of course, there are still many challenges facing the crypto sector, such as regulatory uncertainty - what nation will be the pioneers?I have a prediction that Network States will challenge traditional forms of government. But I am not a PolySci dweeb, so don’t quote me, plz. The need for interoperability between different blockchain projects is still high. This is a part of the broader UX pains the industry deals with in large. That said, the collective intelligence of the passionate builders across the ecosystem will solve this.

For anyone considering getting involved in the crypto sector, I highly recommend attending conferences like ETHDenver. Certain elements of communication can never arise via Discord/Telegram/Twitter/etc.

These in-person events are irreplaceable.  It’s the best way to connect with like-minded individuals, learn about the latest developments, and gain motivation for your own projects.

Overall, I am grateful to have had the opportunity to attend ETHDenver and look forward to continuing to build and contribute to the crypto community in my own way.

Please reach out to me with what you are working on or other crypto conferences you recommend I attend.
