Managing Discord Notifications

Many crypto communities are using Discord (for now). I’m in dozens of them. Have you found Discord notifications to be unmanageable? Me too. Here’s how I dealt with them.

Mute the server right after joining.

Change notification settings so that you only get @notifications. Suppress @everyone and @here and suppress all role mentions.

When you hear a Discord sound, check your inbox. It’s the icon in the top right corner of the desktop app. I can see the entire list of mentions in my inbox and make adjustments to my settings as desired, including servers that I may have neglected to mute.

In the screencap above, I’ve received an @everyone notification in the Threshold Network server. Now I know to suppress @everyone in the Threshold Network server if I don’t want those in the future.

That’s it. Now you can chill out AND use Discord. Thought that those were incompatible, right? Me too. WAGMI.
