💭What’s Beamer Bridge?

Beamer Bridge enables direct ERC20 asset transfers between any two EVM compatible rollups, without transiting via Layer 1(L1). Right now, Beamer bridge is available on Optimisim, Arbitrum and Boba mainnet. More network will be added in future.

There are two types of rollups: optimistic rollups & zero-Knowledge rollups. Beamer provides users with optimistic bridging services. Here’s how it works:

• Users request bridge service from one rollup (R1) to another rollup (R2) by sending tokens & service fees to Beamer Contract.

• Agents settle the request by sending tokens to target rollup (R2) and claim the tokens & Fees From Beamer Contract on R1.

• In case false claims made, escalation game (security mechanism) is initialed to penalize agents for making false claims.

Beamer is fully decentralized because the core protocol and community team do not run agents.

💭Beamer’s Token & Quest Campaign

Beamer doesn’t have any token yet and according to docs and beamer team has not decided whether or not it will distribute tokens. Beamer’s primary focus right now is building a seamless and secure bridge.

So it’s a great opportunity for us to use Beamer and get retroactive airdrop if team decide to launch a native token in future. Also beamer is a community-driven open-source project.

So lets start using Beamer dApp to explore L2 ecosystem.

💭Tutorial

Make sure to have sufficient assets in your wallet and $ETH for transaction fees. Also add optimism or arbitrum or boba mainnet into metamask using Chainlist.

Now lets swap $50 worth of USDC from Arbitrum to Optimism Mainnet or vice-versa, which is also a task for quest-02.

• Visit Beamer dApp: app.beamerbridge.com/#/

• Click “Connect to Wallet” button and connect your wallet.

• Select Optimism → Arbitrum One or Arbitrum One → Optimism chains for doing bridge of ERC20 assets like $USDC.

• Type any amount to bridge funds. And it will show the Fees & receiving amount.

• Click “Transfer Funds” button and confirm two transaction: (01) Allowance Transaction for using assets to bridge & (02) Token transferring transaction to complete bridge

• Don’t need to edit allowance assets as it will auto set to typed amount, not unlimited.

• In “Activity” section, you will see the transaction history with transaction hash.

• Click “New Transfer” button to swap back to previous chain.
