Lil Sisters is a Nounish group of female and non-binary builders, artists, and creators.
They are an extension of Lil Nouns DAO.
Lil Sisters was established with the intentions of:
Elevating female & non-binary builders in the Nounish ecosystem
Building a channel for women in Nouns to meet and greet
Funding women in Nouns
Lil Sisters is the first female-led group in the Nouniverse. To date, they are still the most prominent one - in Lil Nouns and beyond!
Meet the Lil Sisters! These core contributors are:
thebeautyandthepunk (a.k.a. B) - @beautyandpunk
pxlmnml - @pxlmnml
mimix - @miagiulianag
KOME - @KOMESciArt
Profwerder - @profwerder
It may be surprising to some, but Lil Sisters actually originated from Lil Nouns DAO!
The idea of giving due support to women and non-binary individuals was initially brought up in the Lil Nouns Discord.
Or more specifically, letting other sisters know that Nouns DAO, as a democratic and decentralized organization, was open to funding great ideas from anyone.
Championed by B and other like-minded builders, Lil Sisters was built around this idea.
Here’s pxlmnml with more:
When I talk to feminine/non-binary people about Nouns and what is possible, they don't really believe me until they read the proposals and see what is already getting funded [in Nouns DAO]. They see the bar is not so high for the actual value that is being created in the proposed work - nothing beyond what they are capable of producing.

While Lil Sisters started out as a Discord channel, it started growing into something more… a community, or shall I say, a Sisterhood.
Since its inception in late June 2022, Lil Sisters has made commendable progress in a short period.
For starters, the extension created the Lil Sisters Fund, receiving 38 ETH from Lil Nouns DAO as part of Prop 30 to allocate capital to their builders.
A handful of proposals have been funded, with the likes of:
Donating 4,000 sanitary pads
Hosting podcasts and spaces
Partnering with fellow sub-DAO Gnars DAO to sponsor female/non-binary athletes
Check out the Lil Sisters proposal tracker for more info!
Most recently, Lil Sisters won in the first round of Prop House by TheNounSquare, hosting weekly Twitter spaces at TNS Soapbox. That gives Lil Sisters great exposure to the Nounish community.
Lil Sisters are currently focused on community growth and proposal optimization.
After all, they still have 15 ETH to spend in the Lil Sisters multi-sig… proposals to help build Lil Sisters are welcome!

DAOs are naturally decentralized, anonymous, and all-inclusive. As such, DAOs should be inherently fair and democratic.
People however, cannot be held to this ‘perfect’ standard. Everyone comes into the DAO with differing levels of experience and knowledge, but also, pre-existing preferences and biases.
At Lil Nouns DAO, we take embrace diversity through inclusivity — anyone can own a Lil Noun and be a part of our governance journey.
However, some individuals may have a harder time than others realizing the Nounish ethos. More specifically, those who were marginalized in traditional organizations or had previously unpleasant experiences may think the same culture applies in the crypto world.
Statistically speaking, women and non-binary individuals face more discrimination in traditional organizations.
As such, Lil Sisters matters. Lil Sisters creates a safe space for women and non-binary builders to learn about Lil Nouns, the Nouniverse, and build comfortably.
Profwerder puts it well:
Many men may not realize that most women in this space have had multiple uncomfortable experiences (or worse) here so when they come into a community, they may come in with their guard up expecting "CryptoBro" culture to be here as well. Once they can see that this ecosystem is different, they can find their place here and contribute to what we are building.
Lil Sisters is an open book, a community not token-gated and not excluding men in any way. They are simply focused on helping women and non-binary individuals learn the Nounish way.
Wanted to share a few words from the Lil Sisters. Here’s their POV:
On Inclusivity & Diversity in DAOs:
Lil Sisters matters because inclusion and diversity help strengthen an organization. When any organization is too homogenous, we miss out on maximizing our potential. So by creating an entry point for women and non-binary and encouraging them to share their ideas and talents, we continue to broaden our reach.
~ profwerder (Lil Sister)
On Funding Women & Non-Binary Builders:
We are here to support builders and grow the community. Bring your passions and propose projects you want to do ANYWAY, and use that passion to proliferate the Lil Nounish ecosystem ~ Lil sisters are here for feminine and non-binary people to step up and get paid!

Just pop in the #lil-sisters channel in Lil Nouns Discord and give a wave 👋
There is currently no Discord group specifically for female and non-binary builders in the Nouniverse.
