Better an empty purse than an empty head

Hello, dear readers! Today I want to share with you a funny story that happened to me recently. It involves an empty purse and an empty head, and how I learned that the former is better than the latter.

You see, I was walking down the street one day, minding my own business, when I saw a sign that said "Free IQ Test". Being a curious person, I decided to give it a try. I entered the building and was greeted by a friendly-looking man who handed me a clipboard with some questions on it. He told me to answer them as quickly and honestly as possible, and then he would give me my score.

I looked at the questions and they seemed easy enough. Things like "What is the capital of France?" and "How many planets are there in the solar system?". I breezed through them in no time and handed the clipboard back to the man. He smiled and said "Well done! You have a very high IQ. You are in the top 1% of the population. Congratulations!"

I was thrilled. I had always suspected that I was smarter than average, but this confirmed it. I felt like a genius. The man then said "Now, for only $100, you can get a certificate that proves your IQ score. You can use it to impress your friends, family, employers, or anyone else you want. It's a great investment for your future. What do you say?"

I didn't hesitate. I reached for my purse and opened it. To my horror, I realized that it was empty. I had forgotten to bring any money with me that day. I felt like an idiot. How could I be so smart and yet so forgetful? I looked at the man with a sheepish expression and said "Sorry, I don't have any cash on me right now. Can I pay you later?"

The man's smile vanished. He looked at me with contempt and said "No, you can't pay me later. You have to pay me now or you don't get the certificate. And by the way, your IQ score is not real. It's just a scam to get money from gullible people like you. You are not a genius. You are a fool."

I was stunned. I felt like I had been slapped in the face. How could he do this to me? How could he lie to me and then insult me? I felt like crying. I grabbed my empty purse and ran out of the building, feeling humiliated and angry.

As I walked home, I realized that I had learned a valuable lesson that day. Better an empty purse than an empty head. An empty purse can be filled with money, but an empty head can only be filled with lies. And lies can hurt more than anything else.

So, dear readers, don't fall for scams like this one. Don't let anyone tell you that you are smarter or better than you really are. Be honest with yourself and others. And remember: money can buy many things, but it can't buy intelligence or happiness.
