There is a longing
For something greater
Something grander
That we can be
A longing for community
For true belonging
For debate, exchange and friction
That can be dissolved into acceptance, forgiveness and trust
There is a longing for our own potential
To that fuller life we all know we could live
That imbued with meaning and purpose
In service of others, in creative expression, in pursuit of truth
There is a longing for emancipation
From all the waste we find ourselves in
Waste of time, waste of food, waste of opportunities
That waste our souls away bit by bit
There is a longing for regeneration
That can heal us from our traumas
And the traumas we caused onto the world
Freeing us from pain into wholesomeness
There is a longing for reunion
For the integration of left and right
Of arts and sciences
Of men and women
Of humans and nature
Of matter and spirit
A reunion with ourselves
I long to live in this world
My heart knows it's possible
Where all have their needs met
And the capacity to learn, to play, to express
Where we can find our paths and one another
Where we all can be the fuller version of ourselves
Faith is to believe what we cannot yet see
Pragmatism is to see what we don't wish to believe
By integrating both we can find the ways
One (billion) human(s) at a time
One (billion) poem at a time
We'll get there
