On August 2, 2024, We are excited to announce the Dark Forest Ares v0.1 Round 4!
Dark Forest Ares is a fork version of classic Dark Forest powered by DFArchon team. We have previously released three different game versions, and today we are announcing the launch of the fourth version!
Round 4: Union 🌸 will begin on Sunday, August 11, at 2PM UTC. The round will run for roughly 6 days and will end on Saturday, August 17, at 2PM UTC.
Note that we will take a snapshot of the scoreboard on the end time, you’ll still be able to play in the Dark Forest Ares universe afterwards.
Objective & Change log
This round, we’re thrilled to introduce the functionality to form unions! In previous Dark Forest rounds, player interactions were always hostile, but unions change the game! 🎉 Now, you can truly team up with your friends, guilds, or alliances, and even form peace pacts with your neighbors. 🤝 All movements between players within the same union will be friendly. Yes, you can now send energy to help a friend’s planet! 🌟 (and hopefully they would do the same in return)!
No more sleepless nights… as long as you trust your allies! 🤠
Just like in Dark Forest Ares Round 3, individual players need to aim for the center of the universe. This concept was first explored in Dark Forest v0.6 Round 3: Grape Extra-Small. 🚀
In Round 4, rewards are determined by union rankings. Union points are based on the individual rankings of union members. Here’s the conversion table for individual rankings to union points:
For example, if a union has members ranked 1st, 5th, and 40th, the total points would be: 200 + 100 + 60 = 360. 🌟
Union rankings are based on the total points. In case of a tie, we’ll use the highest individual player ranking within the union to decide the ranking. 🏆
Union rankings will determine the distribution of USDC and the rarity of NFTs.
The USDC prizes will go directly to the union leader, who can distribute the funds within the union as they see fit. Please note, the amounts listed below are for the entire union, not individual players. ⚠️
For the reward NFTs, each player will need to mint their own fully onchain NFTs after the game ends. 🌟

Dark Forest Ares is still early and unaudited. We expect to be moving quickly on new (breaking) features, and you should expect assets in these first Dark Forest Ares universes to be unlikely to persist for very long as we build out the first full game. We’ll be keeping the community updated as we progress.
