On 8th of July We gathered together in Möhrle Happ Luther office for the “My First Wallet” workshop; organized by the Hanseatic Blockchain Institute and Finanzplatz Hamburg and sponsored by coinIXHamburg1 team were present at the event to prepare a report.

The world is in the midst of a digital revolution. Blockchain technology and crypto assets are more than just buzzwords. they are transforming the way we transfer, store, and protect value. For many professionals and executives, questions arise: How do these technologies work? What opportunities do they offer my company and me personally? And above all — how can I enter this new world safely and efficiently? We planned this workshop to explore these questions. It was specifically aimed at corporate professionals and companies that have had little or no contact with wallets and crypto assets.

These topics were reviewed in our workshop:

  • Introduction to Wallets and Hardware Wallets: Our guests learnt how to set up their first wallet and utilize the benefits of hardware wallets.

  • Conducting Secure Transactions: Our guests Understood the mechanisms behind blockchain transactions and how to securely manage their digital assets.

  • **Exploring the World of NFTs: **Our guests discovered the significance and potential of Non-Fungible Tokens in the digital economy.

  • Security for Digital Assets: Our guests learnt all about seed phrases, hashes, and best security practices.

  • **DEX vs. CEX: **Our guests understood the differences between decentralized and centralized exchanges and the advantages and disadvantages they offer.

  • Using Block Explorers: Our guests learnt how to track and verify transactions to ensure maximum transparency and security.

Moritz Schildt, the co-funder and CEO of coinIX and the Founding Member of the HBI started the workshop by explainig the basics of cryptocurrency wallets. The practical part of the workshop was designed by Janik Sieber, investment analyst at coinIX. I helped the guests during the process as a mentor. The other mentors were Marcus WodauschVincent Simao and Tom Haverland. I will review the workshop process in this article.

Step 1: A QR code was shared with the guests to download the Trust wallet on their cellphones and they were guided through opening a new wallet. Each user received a secret phrase in the app which consists of 12 words. The mentors transfered ETH to their wallets using Base Blockchain. Etherem transfers require high gas fees. That’s why we decided to transfer ETH on the Base blockchain which is a Layer 2 blockchain technology. The users transfered assets among each other to practice.

Step 2: When you delete a wallet app on your phone, your assets wont be gone! They are on the blockchain and the applications are just a user interface that lets you interact with them. In order to show this feature to our guests, we shared another QR code so that they can download the Coinbase wallet and we recovred their wallet using the secret phrases. Their assets on the trust wallet showed up in their Coinbase wallet as well.

Conclusion

Dealing with digital assets is no longer a luxury but a necessity for modern companies and their employees. Whether you want to invest in Bitcoin, NFTs, or electronic securities — securely managing a wallet is the key to success. Our workshop provided our guests with a comprehensive introduction to these technologies and showed them how to use them safely and effectively.
