**“Life Doesn't happen in the Future”
**
I can often think to myself- in regards to my family's future, my own future, and my legacy, “once I get A,B, and C set- we will be able to experience an amazing life.
“I cant play catch with you today because I need to take care of this business call that- and if THIS call is Successful- it COULD make it so we can play catch every single day in the FUTURE – Son”.
Remember that song “Cats in the Cradle” by Harry Chapin?
Its basically about being to busy to spend time with his son while his son is growing up, then his grown up son being too busy to spend time with him as they both aged.
For decades this song has resonated with me and holds a major lesson in it.
If my goals in life are Success defined by Money and Financial freedom- to ultimately be able to spend more time with family- but that journey strays me away from spending that time with the family I currently have- whats the real goal here?
If every evening and Sundays I GET TO already have this time to spend with people I care about and love- but every evening and Sunday I SKIP this to continue aiming toward the goal.... im missing the whole point.
So if the goal is to live the life you want to live, do what you want, with who you want, when you want-
---if you actually took a look around yourself, and took the veil of “financial success” off of your face...
Do you already have this?
I do.
Its only when I let the pursuit of perceived success fool me- that I lose sight of it.
“I will continue to pursue my goals- but not at the forfeit of the life I currently have.”
