First Guardian-arranged Townhall (Guardians only)
Host: Burnny
Speaker: Charles, Victor, Claire, DairyCow, DavidC
How do we bring value to our community and how do we provide value to our partners?
Vic:
Let me break down the value into three parts. One for gamers who have Carv ID, two for the Carv community, and three for Carv’s partners. For gamers with Carv ID, you will be able to fully own your digital assets or everything that you have done across the gaming universe. One of the tough spots for Web2 games is that when you leave a game, all of your data will not be brought with you. The corporation can exploit your data and monetize it, but you cannot benefit from them. Using Carv, you will be able to own your data and form your gaming identity. Having all of them in one place allows you to unlock some potential perks from other projects and even monetize on them. Having all of your activity in one place also builds your profile in the space, and it unlocks many possibilities for events and socialization within the community. If you are a big Web3 gamer and carved badges on Carv, these SBTs demonstrate that you are an experienced player, which credits you.
For business, we are working with a lot of games for partnership. They would bring many perks to the community. For example, we are working with Illuvium right now and they can provide beta testing spots for the Carv community. Later on, we will be working with other NFT projects and they will be opening exclusive access for the community. For example, the League tournament with E4C founder Johnson. Right now, platforms are working on users within their systems. PlayStation can only get its hands on its own users but is unable to reach players outside. With users’ permission, Carv will be able to connect different platforms and help them to better cater to users.
What are Priests, Paladins, and Hunter for, what are their expectation?
Vic:
Ultimately, we want Carv to be run as a DAO. Decentralization and co-building are our core values. The Guardian program is an early experiment of Daoification, and a big part of this process is that the community knows better in terms of what the community wants. The Guardians program allows us to get more voices from the community and be more directed by the community. In the beginning, we have five roles and we aggregated them into three so that we have better transparency and communication.
Charles:
Let me ask the question, what if there is no Guardian program? What if there is no community to help us to run this project? I think the Guardians are helping us to spread the word and reach more people in a manner that we cannot. Take the example of hunters, there are ways you can reach the community that is much better than what we can do. Also, your position as a community member who joins other communities and talks to their mods and players is something that we cannot do. In my opinion, that is the advantage of having Guardians. Also, just like many Web3 projects, we are working in a very small team and we need to devote our effort to the product. It would be impossible to reach out to so many people and communities without the guardians.
Charles, can you talk about the specifics of Paladins?
Charles
Yes, I think the majority of our participants today might be Paladins or Priests. For Priests, you are running the community, but also reach out to find out more about how other projects run themselves, arranging activities across different communities. Within the community, you answer community members’ questions and guide them in participating in different events. For Paladins. you need to create content. Basically, Paladins have three tasks. The first one is to write something down, such as recaps, major updates on Carv, and content translations. The second part is to reach more people by creating content, for example, writing game discoveries about games and the industry. Show the space that Carv cares about games and the industry. And third, you can create any form of content you want. Writing articles, recording videos, and graphic designs, those quests are open for paladins. For hunters, you reach out to other community and deliver Carv’s value to other projects, then helps build connections between Carv and other projects.
How can I contribute to the program and what are the incentives?
Charles:
I know that some of you guys share the same visions with us and want to help achieve them and some of you want perks such as Airdrops. We provide both ways. Regarding the Guardian levels and perks, there are several important levels. Levels 5, 8, and 14 are three major levels and you will be able to carve the corresponding SBT, which will improve your future airdrops. Once you reached level 5, you will be able to receive Arc token as well. The basic token distribution is 100 $Arc for level 5 and 200 $Arc once you reach level 8. Once Arc token gets listed on Exchanges, you will be able to convert them into currency.
Different Guardians have different duties. Priests are in charge of the community, they can receive Exps by engaging the community, collecting AMA questions, and offering advice. The second role, Paladins, is requested to create content. There are three tasks for Paladins. They can transcribe an AMA into a recap, and there will be extra exp for those important and long AMAs. They can also translate the content into your local language. Another task for paladins is to write game discoveries, where writers go deep into games and ecosystems and review the mechanisms. Hunters will also receive exps by reaching out to different projects. Future airdrops will be depending on your Exps. But we really want Guardians to share our vision and value.
Speeches from DairyCow & DavicC (Burnny popped in)
DairyCow:
Hey guys, this is DairyCow, and I am going to talk about my experience of being a Priest and Paladin. Actually, as a Priest, I am a little bit casual because there are not many newcomers. I think the most important thing is to be patient because people will ask repetitive questions. Also, due to the time difference, sometimes the development team is sleeping and I need to wait for their response. So you need to comfort those angry carvers.
And as a paladin, also as a Web 3 new hand, I see this as a chance to explore an entirely new world. By doing these AMA recaps, game discovery, and translation, I could absorb information from all those projects, broadening my horizons. It may be a little bit tiring, but I think we’re still in the early stage. There must be someone to build the cornerstone
David Chen:
So I'm just going to focus on Hunter. As a Hunter, I work closely with Victor and BabyYoda, and Burnny. I think the greatest thing about Hunter is that you are getting touched with a lot of projects. During this period, you will be seeing a lot of promising projects and that's just a great opportunity for you to really train yourself and get the hang of Web3, get a hang of Crypto games. During that process, you are also meeting a lot of fun people from other projects. Mr.Grey is not here, but because of him. I met Squiddy who is running the Champions Ascension, he is a super fun dude, and absolutely adorable. I think that's also the charisma of Web 3 games and being a Hunter.
Burnny:
I think Hunter is really working behind the scene, and it is really the hardest job. When you approach 10 projects, probably only one will respond to you. But you have to be perseverant and keep knocking on the doors. And this job gives you a better understanding of what Carv is because you need to pitch Carv to other projects.
Charles:
I’m glad that you have grown during this journey. That’s a beautiful thing which we hope for. In the beginning, you might just want airdrops and $ARC tokens. But during the journey, you know more about us and then you’ll share the same vision and work together.
Burnny:
Let’s move to the question part.
Shall we create a special badge for the Chinese local community like we’ve done for Portugal?
Claire
Makki used to have a local game night and it turned out great. So if everybody wants to like any proposals, just shoot and we’ll support you along the way. The rewards can be something incentives, not only badges.
Charles:
We opened for some different activities designed by the community. If you have ideas, please let us know and we’ll evaluate them in the beginning. We will come up with the evaluation and you might be able to vote in the future. We can definitely test this out. Feel free to host any events that you think will boost the local community.
Can we disclose or review the current stage of development and financial situation?
Claire:
Now you can see we have some functions rolling out. First, we just rolled out the Review Phase 2 as you can see, like the trends of reviews and the distribution of reviews. And also you can comment on others' reviews.
We also rolled out the new event page, Personally, I think the structure and UI are more clear than before.
Thirdly, we did a soft launch where you can connect your Steam account to Carv. We want to put more people to connect their steam accounts on our platform. There will be more SBT regarding steam achievements.
From the perspective of Carv users, you might find the website just have some updates and it looks great. But at the back end, there are many things that we need to create like filtering game data and how to connect with games by using API. It takes much more effort than visual updates.
A lot of guardians would want to know if it is possible for them to work for Carv full-time.
Vic:
As I mentioned, the rationale behind Guardian is that we can have an early experiment on the DAO. Definitely, there will be more from the community who are joining the team and the team would have more penetration into the community.
Charles:
Because we are leading the team and it is still in development. You can send us your CV and we might recruit you. It also depends on your skills and what you are capable of.
When would TGE happen?
Vic:
First of all, we are trying to build the product out to demonstrate its value to the community. When the Carv ID has the capability to take off and be able to provide value for the game. We do have some preliminary and tentative dates for sometime next year. It would also be dependent on the market environment, considering whether or not TGE at that time would benefit most early contributors like you guys as well as the community members.
Some guardians recommend that we should host events on Link3 as well as on Carv.
Charles:
We will test the function to see how it will be able to boost the AMA. But we also consider some value behind our Carv badge. That’s a long-term goal. We will also think about how those functions will be integrated into our ecosystem.
Charles:
I found that the Chinese community is quite strong and the Guardians in the Japanese community are also very active. We want to learn from this experience to find out where we can improve and what tactics we can use.
If you are able to host your guardian meeting or have some chat with other community leaders like Russian, Thailand, or Portuguese, you can let us know. Although there will be a language barrier, you can invite more people from the local community.
And please let me know if I can provide any support or just let me arrange the meeting.
What is the position of the community lead?
Charles:
We play the role to become the organizer in your community and engage the guardians to know each other. The language barrier is definitely here since we are from different countries. But we share the same vision. I hope that in different language groups, you can organize small meetings to get to know each other better.**

Regarding the Crystal of Naramunz events, there’s a discrepancy between the tutorial and what is required. What’s the situation with it?
Charles:
When we collaborate with games, sometimes they will provide the list of carvers who can carv the badge. Sometimes the data is misleading. It also depends on how strong the project is. If they are just a small team, they will provide a CSV file and once you submit the form then you are eligible.
Clarification of the previous question
Yeah, I think that the misunderstanding here is that we had a notion page within the tutorial that is creating a notion page. And on the Carv side, it gives you a form to fill out on the event. But on the notion page, the tutorial doesn't tell you to fill out the form. It just tells you how to do the steps that are requested in the form. So some people who just went through the tutorial did those steps but did not fill up the form. Didn't get it qualified for the badge. I think it was a question and problem.
Charles:
I also need to mention that we are at a very early stage. How to solve the events more reasonably, more correctly, and those requirements how do we record people who actually achieved something based on the data gathered? There's a technical barrier to that. We're trying to solve that, but it's definitely going to have some bumpers. For example, the Twitter space, we have the AMA several times on Space. Twitter only provides us with an API that you'll be able to record less than a thousand listeners at the same time. If there are more than 1000 listeners. For example, today when we have the AMA with Splinterland, then it's many more than 1000 people. We will try to find a way to tackle that but not 100% support everything.
Charles:
Anyway, I think I need to thank Burnny, DC, and Dairycow to call for arranging this AMA. You guys have different roles. Dairycow is in charge of the translation of the questions, DC is the sidekick, Burnny is the host. I think it's a great arrangement. I like the thing and also the question that you posted to us and sent to us. It's great. It's more fun to do it. I think we are the community in which we are gamers. A community for people will be fun under any circumstances, even in the worst circumstances and gamers will find a way to make their daily life more meaningful and more interesting. So I like this kind of group that we gather together, and hopefully, we can get to know each other more. We are not judging anyone, and if you have any questions please let us know. And we value your opportunities or opinions, ideas, and all your proposals. As long as we have the resources, then we will try to help and also achieve the things that you've been asking for. As always we want to be as transparent as possible with you guys to share our vision to share our progress. There are definitely going to be obstacles, and sometimes setbacks, especially during this bear market and everything can happen. But we are very ambitious and also we are very confident our products can make a hit in the next round of the hype. So we believe in that and I hope that everyone who participated in the Guardian program can also believe in that. And also the airdrop will come afterward once we receive something. We believe that we are patient and I hope that we are transparent with you guys once we share the information that we know, that you guys are trusting us and those will be patient too.
Burnny:
Yeah, like CZ said if you don't hold, you won't be rich. If you don't have the patience, you won't see the explosion of Carv. We just hope this AMA helps everyone to understand the Carv better. We try to create more communication between the team and Guardian, so working together will go back to the community to help the community grow. Thank you for Charles coming today after hosting the AMA. Thank you for coming in and answering all the questions.
Charles:
Thank you everyone for participating and we definitely have some regular AMA for the community. Maybe for the whole community rather than just responding to the Guardians Town Hall, but I think it's a great test for us to let you guys arrange and host an AMA. We are a guest to join the AMA. So it's an interesting experience for me, Claire, and Victor as well. So hopefully we can arrange something like this. It is quite interesting. I hope everyone participates. Thank you Burnny. Thank you Dariycow and thank you DC.
